    As I pointed out in another post, there's a version of gnash for Linux on amd64 that's already available (but still way too buggy).

    Also, gnash has recently matured to the point of being able to play YouTube movies on all supported architectures, including amd64. Well, sort of - in my experience, the version in Ubuntu Feisty repositories is still way too buggy in many ways, including, but not limited to, some of the GUI components misplaced or not working, huge memory leaks (don't leave it overnight) and stopping to load after viewing a dozen of clips. But hey, it's a start.

    Not being a Windows fan myself, which on practice means I use Ubuntu 95% of the time, I cannot help regretting the fact that foobar2000 player doesn't run on Linux. So the next time you find yourself wandering these frozen lands and start thinking of a calefactory monkey dance, just launch it up.

    Not only do they respond incorrectly, but there are also servers that simply don't allow you to pipeline anything to the output stream. I have a first-hand knowledge in this, as I was trying to use this technique - to only find out that there is no way you can flush the data out of a servlet in the Oracle Application Server. All that in direct violation with the Servlets standard, of course, but who cares. Hard stop.

    One could argue that a report on misleading comparison is useful merely due to the fact of pointing out the mischievous techniques.
    This can teach us a thing about the ways some manufacturers choose in attempt to capture another part of your mind.
