    I use both.
In a nut shell I would say:
Joomla is neat clean and simple.
Drupal is flexible with added complexity.

Drupal has a somewhat stronger modules development community that is central to drupals site. In that it is a one stop shop for all modules.

Joomla on the other hand, is more developer centric, in that the modules are mostly advertized in Joomla's listing, and you have to follow links out to the developers site for most of the modules.

Joomla has a nice structure to its framework, so if you're fresh out of a OOP Software Engineering course, you would feel very comfortable with Joomla's base.

Drupal framework follows a different approach, being that the project existed way before PHP supported OOP features. The framework seems to follow a type of components based development where modules are hooked together.
(maybe someone could correct me if Im wrong here )

Drupal out of the box has a powerful ACL in place. Joomla on the other hand is very weak in this aspect. And last I looked, they were looking into overhauling their ACL system.

  5. Re:Would you buy a Metallica online album...? on Metallica May Follow In Footsteps of Radiohead, NIN · · Score: 1

Good tracks come and go as long as society persists to nurture the creative minds of artists.

Artists who feed strongly off of society, normally give back through their work, which consists of paintings, movies, musics, plays, software, architecture, sculptures etc.

What Metallica had done, was take from society all that they could, and in return pissed all over the ideals of the people.

As a developer, I see software and engineering as artwork. Because, how much different is P2P and Napster different from Music, painting and theater? They are all pieces of art that represents fragments of society. They all tell a story of mankind in the era they existed in.

As for Metallica, they were in the position to take a stance and reveal their true nature, and all they represented. And instead of standing with society, they stood against it. The very source of their artistic food. Without it, they will never be able to write a song, create any kind of entertainment, whatsoever.

So no matter how good their songs are, anyone who knows what Metallica represents, and stand for, will never enjoy these tunes as they used to. And nothing Metallica do would change what they believe in.

This whole deal is just to make some extra cash. Because even if they won against Napster, they totally lost against society. And as they see their leader (RIAA) slowly crumbling, they're trying to integrate before its too late.

Well when it comes to my money, it is too late.

And the reason people purchase products from large companies is so that they could offload some of the "hassle" or responsibility to the company that is hiring qualified professionals to analyze and develop the product they wish to sell.

If me as a regular user (Pretend at the moment I'm not writing this from my linux laptop) wanted to trade my personal time to assume the responsibility of learning cutting edge counter phishing procedures, then I fail to see the purpose of paying for the service.

From the above statement, we could look at the underling problem here.
We as geeks know how to avoid these problems on the internet and whatnot, because it is our every day life. However don't expect a singer, entertainer, pilot, lawyer or mechanic.

If we could afford to, we will not change our own automobile's engine oil, even if we knew how to. So why should we expect mechanics, lawyers and any non geek to stay on top of CERT/Slashdot and all other form of security concerns when all they want to do is use it for basic communications and features?

Its the whole idea of specialization. People specialize in various trades, and sell services to each other.

In conclusion: When a regular user choose to pay $xxx.00 for a Windows license instead of learning how to install and use Linux for free. Its a time and hassle investment that they're making, and not really a religious preference.

One interesting feeling that I would never forget, is dieing in my sleep. It was a weird cold rush starting from my limbs rushing inwards, almost reaching my heart as I woke with a very deep inhale, and felt the exact opposite, as the coldness rushed outwards. I had it twice in one night. Episode one: CSI, I was shot. I was also the detective solving the case. Episode 2: I was in a cage, that dropped to the bottom of the sea. I was also the detective finding the body, and the mortician doing the autopsy.

Thankfully I stick to fighting dragons!

When I was in elementary school, I would remember myself having a lot of trouble with my dreams. I would be riding a bike, and I want to get off, but I could never get off the bike. I would want to turn left/right but it wouldn't happen. So every night I would be fighting w/ that same dream, untill one night, was able to get off the bike. Couple weeks later, I learnt to fly!!
These days, I have more control over my dreams when I'm active, and working out. Probably has something to do with bloodflow, but thats a guess in the dark.

And during the superbowl, then they could project that instead.

I think thats what a lot of developers are failing to realize. That one "shoe" doesn't fit all, and that you need the right tool for the job.

For instance, you can't take out your drain plug with a hammer, but who says it can't be done with a lot of work?
So to, you won't build a website you plan on dumping on easily available webhost on Java.
You're not going to tackle something as tedious as google's finance app with javascript, etc. But thats not saying it can't be done without a lot of work.

So as a developer, your "tool" isn't VI, or the IDE, or compilers. Your ultimate toolsets are your languages.
