This reminds me of a old post around here. I forget what the topic was or what the site linked to was but I certainly remember the mishmash of computer cables spliced onto standard outlet plugs. I wonder how effective it would be to just start jamming 120v AC power into SSDs.
It's only a big deal if you want to embiggen your market. R rating simply doesn't have numbers that PG-13 does which is why we get all these "scary" movies that settles for LOUD noises and SUDDENLY APPEARING characters or objects and other piss ass cop-outs in place of real horror.
BTW, if underwater sets are too expensive, maybe he could, I don't know, change the setting to space and instead of big brothers and little sisters and whatever other siblings are in Bioshock, he could have- you know know what I'm getting at so I'll just stop. I'm hesitant to suggest survival horror games for movie plots but if you're gonna, you may as well go to the source and use with System Shock or System Shock 2.
Oh c'mon! Could you be any more false? Everyone knows that here you get scooped up by government agents (always bad apples of course!) and sent to a third world country to be tortured. And then you die from "excited delerium" or "pre-existing conditions" (that never were noticed either by symptoms or doctor exams) or just an ol' fashion beat down. http://antiwar.com/rothschild/?articleid=2615
Sure, sure, not enough foresight but it still feels like a solution in search of a problem. Anything that impairs a person from using a computer will probably be an expensive enough procedure that they would have assistants anyway except for a car mechanic and even then, what would the benefit be over, say, voice recognition or designing rugged, water-proof and washable interface hardware?
9/11 was by a non-state, loosely associated group that had some help getting started when we needed someone else to get their hands dirty fighting out enemies for the purpose of stirring us up.
Pearl Harbor was a preemptive strike by a national military force against our military force in the hopes that it would cripple our capacity to fight in the Pacific.
Iraq was an ill planned (if at all) war of choice sold to the American public as a necessary step to prevent further terrorist attacks.
Vietnam was an ill planned yada yada prevent communist- ok, I'll give you Iraq and Vietnam but I maintain that 9/11 and Pearl Harbor are far more different.
I don't really consider moving operations to places with lower standards of living and lower environmental requirements, lowering quality, and paying people cents while still selling products at, or nearly at, full price to be particularly innovated. Seems more like a race to the bottom.
He points out that what Michele Bachmann (yes, that crazy, crazy bitch) made sense or at least one sentence out of her whole response did.
"We need to start making things again in this country."
And then there's some other stuff but mostly that. Promoting broadband access without mention of Net Neutrality, joked about high-speed rail not needing TSA grope-a-thons, and that old bullshit line about energy independence (by 2035, 80% of energy will be clean).
If you think about it, really, really think about it, Jar Jar wasn't the problem with the prequels. Sure, he was annoying and obviously there for kids but he was just one tiny aspect in an overwhelmingly poor movie. I'd rather not go on because I feel I'm just regurgitating material from this: http://www.redlettermedia.com/phantom_menace.html
You'll want to watch the other reviews as well. They're enlightening and funny (if extremely crude at times). If it sounds like I'm doing a plug, well, it sort of is but only because I found the reviews far more entertaining than the movies reviewed and stands up to repeat viewings.
Oh, I wouldn't say it's different at all but then I didn't have TK in the list of interstellar travel (not even FTL travel!), levitation (ok, you might have me here), teleportation (theoretically possible), and sentient robots (also has quite a bit more likeliness of happening than TK).
Minecraft is interesting but still hasn't managed to be a game any more than a set of legos or a sandbox is a game. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I've tooled around with MC a lot, building forts, farms, tunnels, and railways but there's not much about it that's "gamey". The potential is there but from what I read on the forums, seems like mod authors are ahead. I am interested in where Notch wants to take the game though.
HEY! You got space fantasy in my science fiction! Don't you dare put "the force" in the same list as interstellar travel, levitation, teleportation, and sentient robots!
If the game I bought uses a key that someone else created (via keygen) and I can't play it, I've suffered to the tune of about $60. Good luck returning disc, too.
At least it's acknowledged as fiction and (hopefully) won't be viewed as informative in the least.
Fuck you Discovery Channel and Auction Kings, Sons of Guns, Flying Wild, American Choppers, Duel Survival, American Loggers, Gold Rush, Swamp Loggers, Deadliest Catch, Man, Woman, Wild, Brew Masters, Storm Chasers, Pitchmen, Surviving the Cut, Swords, Howe & Howe Tech, The Colony, and FUCK YOU ESPECIALLY GHOST LAB.

You mean you haven't seen the in magazines or newspapers or on TV or on signs outside of shops or heard it on TV or the radio?
Businesses are jacking off to it at a rate that makes setting up shop in Second Life look sane.
A: They'll twitch with suppressed rage every time they hear "Follow us on Facebook!" and every time they see one of those FB icons.

Yeah but that's because they didn't steal enough (or anything at all) to cover the lawyer costs.

Indeed. If I was searching for goatse and all I got was a giant, gaping void of nothing, I'd pretty disappointed.
Aren't new Metallica songs terrorists attacks?
Yeah! What he said! I knew I was getting somewhere but then Entertainment Tonight came on and well....

The only decent part is #8 on the third page.

Too bright. Does anyone know how to make it go away? That or does anyone have a custom CSS to use here?
Are you sure you want to do that? You might not like what you see.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Lwlx3GnLGs
I can't wait for the sequel 2013!

Do you know of any that stuck with that assessment of waterboarding? I know of one person who recanted pretty quick: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUkj9pjx3H0
You know what I miss the most? How It's Made.

Heh, at least we're balancing things out from my previous list: http://games.slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=1738550&cid=33092228
