  1. Can they please look for this first: on SETI To Scour the Moon For Alien Footprints? · · Score: 5, Interesting

I want to believe it's real - but if this really is on the moon then I think we'd have been visiting the moon more frequently to study its construction and the technology it would hold - but we haven't so for that reason I don't believe.

I was on Fluoxetine for a while until deciding that I no longer wanted my brain to be fed this stuff. Being concerned about its effects on the environment and the millions of people on this stuff helped me to make the decision to come of it and deal with the depression myself using alternative methods.
Am now taking a St John's wort tablet each morning with breakfast and a 5-HTP tablet before bedtime. Have felt great, if not better, than when I was on Fluoxetine. And I'm pretty sure that St John's wort is not going to harm Shrimps.

  8. How about more unpaid time off? on Is Finding Part Time Work In IT Unrealistic? · · Score: 1

I'm feeling exactly the same. I want to work less and would love to go part time. I have thought about talking to my boss about having every other Monday off. I only get twenty days holiday a year and so in the end I just asked for a few extra one week blocks off a year unpaid and my boss was very understanding and said yes.

  12. Both on Is Help Desk a Launchpad or a Dead End? · · Score: 1

I started off on a helpdesk back in 1997 (Within five minutes of starting I was given root access to SCO systems, with very little knowledge of UNIX! More fool them, but lucky for me; being thrown in at the deep end was a good way to learn even though I could have caused god knows untold amount of damage, but luckily I didn't.). There were a couple of people like me who came and went. Some of them were older people, in their late forties, early fifties, one being an ex TV repair man; so I guess this job to him was neither a launch pad or dead end; just a means to an end. I'd bet he's still there. So that helpdesk was my launch pad to better things (mainly better paid jobs. I'm a Linux Sys Admin now and happy doing this for the foreseeable future.

  17. Yes it is on Is Your Office Haunted? · · Score: 2, Interesting

The building where I work is located on a site that is known as Gallows Hill. Hangings used to take place there many, many years ago. There have been reports from cleaners stating that whilst cleaning the building at night when the offices are mainly empty; a cleaner has had her feather duster removed form her hand by an unseen force and she has been repeatedly beaten round the face with it. Another report was from a cleaner who whilst cleaning the toilets was confronted by a man with a bloodied face - she ran screaming from the wash room (apparently) and when her colleagues investigated there was nobody there. Neither of the cleaners returned, they both quit. The office is now a complete mess.
