So does the PS3 need to enable HDCP? Can it not just send a non-protected HD signal?? Like a reg-free DVDs that don't have CSS encryption? Or do all HD devices have to use HDCP, if so does this not inflate the price as I'm sure HDCP isn't free.
Why does everyone assume that every nation on Earth wants to start a nuclear war?
Maybe we should all sitdown and watch Wargames + When the Wind Blows and then ask ourselfs if anyone would want to use nuclear weapons in anger. I for one would like to see India and China working alongside ESA and NASA establish future for humanity in orbit, on the moon and mars.
Great 5 million laptops all needing more power. Say 100W per laptop, 500MW extra power is now needed to run them, allowing for 1/3 loss due to transport of said electricity and thats nigh on 700WM!? If they are being deployed in developing countries you can be the power comes from fossile fuels (being cheap and readily available, heck it's why the developed world uses them. Plus the UN/US wont let anyone else have nuclear technology as there is a potential bomb-risk).
The video is somewhat sped-up. Based on the attention span of the public atlarge it would have to beable to pint that bulb in about a minute, 2 at most. Also it is still very expensive and the finished products don't look that good, let me know when the colour 3d Printer comes out.
I for one would love an oscilating overthruster on my car, it would enable me to drive through traffic jams. My only consern is that if I can pass through solid matter what is to stop me passing throught the crust of the earth? I drive a MR2 Roadster and I don't think the canvas soft top is rated to magma.
So you have to wait 2-3 minutes, is this a bad thing? Use the time to relax with a cup of green tea. Are we so soon to forget the old days, waiting 20+ minutes for our ZX Spectrum to load hunter killer/R-Type/Chuckey egg, just enjoy the free time.
During the day when I'm out my house only drains about 250 Watts (Homebrew PVR + sundries) so a 1M^2 array would provide enough power to run my house + charge a dirty great battery to run my TV+Lights in the evening. Up that to a 2M^2 array and I could probably store enough power to do a roast.
The key for most people will be the initial cost, at current prices it would take over 10year for a solar system to pay for itself, realisticly it need to be 5 years max.
It's a nice idea, although some serious safety gear would be needed to ensure that the satelite does not inadvertantly beam a 20MW microwave on someones cat.
I thought illusion of distance could be achived by showing the left eye a slightly offset image to the right (or vice-versa). If the glasses could track your pupils could it not ensure that the screen was in a comfortable and appropirate virtual location?
So we effectively reduce the sunlight hitting the Earth, which slows plant growth, we burn more fuel to compensate for the cooler weather releasing more Carbon, requiring more light to be reflected, goto line 1
Truely it is mans ultimate dream to destroy the sun, I will do the next best thing by blotting it out. - Mr. Charles Montgomery Burnes
Well if it does not produce radiation as Dr. Bussard claims then just the standard health and safty rules for a conventional power station, this is just a guess so don't come crying to me when the goverment comes a knocking.
Will be pre ording via mail order then e-baying mine for twice what I payed, I'm still on my old (second hand PS2). Sure the new console is going to have pretty HDTV graphics but I'm from the game-play is more important old school, also I have a life (well as much as a slashdotter can have).
So what if it only costs $100, I the ignorant consumer does not need to know this. Do you really think and i-Pod costs anything like the selling price?
Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, my case is thus. If my client is found to be in the wrong there will be a huge increase in spam and a slowdown of the internet, I rest my Case.
So yes build them at sea (pleanty of coolant) and run cables under the sea. The UK has loads of coastline, we could massively reduce our carbon emmision, have a waste barge to store the waste in old north sea gas deposite caves. Sorted.
To increase productivity how about treating employees with respect, not increasing work loads till were all at breaking points and stop freaking blocking all sites on the internet that might be in the least bit fun!
damn it abit of down time every so-often improves performance.
for example in schools in Alabama it's dead easy. 3.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000-ad nausia
You can just direct the WMP11 play back audio stream into an OGG/MP3 encoder via a loopback on the sound card. Virtualy no loss of quality (well provided your not an uber-anal sound freak) and no more DRM
hopefuly I wont get a silly ansi...

Hydrocarbons! We must invad... I mean liberate these aliens from there oppresive overlord Zeanue! Then rebuild space and sell the oil.
I didn't even know the one i used in my car to link my garmin to the car radio was illiegal?!

Gosh and to think of all the people must of anoyed within a 2 meter radius of my car by the awsome 50mW transmitter over ridding BBC 2 Radio.

and the NRA says it's in the constitution!
(will there be a super soaker version?)
The NRA say's it's part of the constitution.
Will the super soaker corp produce a non leathal one to?
