    Whilst wine might well be recompilable to OSX you would still need a translation layer for x86->PPC to get the code to execute.

    You don't terminate your strings in Power Dynamo - it's all written in Dynamo Script a sort of cludged up, crack-head designed version of server side Java. The entire thing is broken. Never, ever, use this product.

    Mac OS X does not have cooperative multi tasking. The only section where this might be a problem is if you are running multiple apps under Classic, as this is still OS 9.

    Movies - getting batter Star Wars for example is getting the same release date in the Uk and the US a(and we're a couple of hours ahead here so will see it first. Net access - I've got ADSL, you need it faster than that? Web sites - it's not really noticable. NTSC - keep it - my TV will do PAL and NTSC.

    Ok you must know that you don't need a password to install a new screen saver (at least not for the current user), you simply put the file in ~/Libaray/ScreenSavers/. If you want to install a system wide on you need access to the system wide Library, which may require a password.

    ANy serious attempt to copy the look ant feel of OSX on any non-apple product will bring down Apples lawyers like a pack of rabid wolves. Sorry , the best Linux desogn minds will just have to come up with their own ideas.

    Audi A2's get 80mpg+ from a non-hybrid engine. Think that's the diesel ones (the petrol ones only manage about 70 iirc).

    In the UK (also PAL) we can get Tivo's (from evil BSB, but they work with all providers). I imagine these would work in other PAL areas?

    ABit KG7-Raid or KG7-L (Lite). Both available now (at least in UK). Raid version is about £150 (about $225).

    The rules state that the programs are not allowed to open network connections (so you can't get more processing power I assume). Because of this they are able to state on their site that all programs will be run on a machine isolated from the network.

    Read on either PDABuzz, or a link from their discussion thread that there will be two options for dealing with "legacy" apps: 1) Scaling - zoom them by a factor of 1.5 to fit the square area above the soft Grafitti area. 2) Border - run at 160x160 centered on the screen with borders. Apparently 90%+ of these apps look and work fine in scaling mode. Robbie

    "Microsoft's Trancriber" is actually a cut down version of Paragraphs Calligrapher hand writing recognition software which provides more features. I don't think that the CPU in a normal Palm device can support this sort of app though.

    Try turning off DMA on your drives. Although it kills performance it makes B&W much more stable (at least on my system: Athlon on Via KT133A).

    Or even more realistic is Grand Prix Legends (also from Sierra). The most difficult racing game ever due to its amazing realisim and the level of detail is stunning.

    US stock quotes are quoted in fractions as they are traded on the NSE (well some of them, but all other US exchanges follow the NSE lead). They used to be quoted to the 1/4 then the 1/8 and a few years back moved to the 1/16. The are moving to a decimal system (like Europe and possibly Japan) in the next few years. Hmm all that corporate business training wasn't a total waste!

    That one was shown on TV in the UK a couple of weeks ago (Sky I think). But as noted above you don't actually get to see him individually kill all these people (and of course I don't imagine that he actually went through the galaxy killing billions of people one at a time). TNG managed to show nothing that would interupt your thoughts of dinner by avoiding all flashbacks/memories of the terrible distruction etc. Nothing worth censoring here.

    In the UK (and probably the rest of Europe) I believe this already operates for Playstation (1, havn't checked the fineprint on the agreements on games fro PS2). You simply mail them the scratched disc and they mail you a new one. Have never used it so no idea how easy it is in practice though.

    In fact Microsoft have signed up Stardock (who make WindowBlinds) to be the official suppliers of third party skinning for XP. This is because they will not be opening their own API's. This was reported on The Register previously (link) (link) (link)
