  1. Quality on Evaluating a System for Selling and Delivering MP3s? · · Score: 4, Interesting

The format itself does not really matter (to me). I would prefer AAC, but MP3 is fine. What really matters is that the encoding is at a high enough bit rate and was done well. Correct id3 tags and artwork help too. If format is so important to people you might think about offering multiple formats in the downloads (I'm sure a lot of people around here want ogg).

In general this is true (it works on Safari on Panther for example). Unfortunatly the Finder.app bundle does not appear to contain a nib file for the main Finder window. Not any more (in London). Most new property (at least in Docklands) is supposed to be built with 999 year leases (which are supposed to be more or less for ever as very few residential developments last for 1000 years). That said the flat I bought a while back was built with a 120 year lease on the land. Most people renegotiate their lease with at least 50 years left on it as you simply can't sell property with less that 50 years left on the lease.

I don't think they stole them as such. I think they re-used the preferences architecture built into OSX. Each button has a bundle for it which is basically a plug-in. The main preferences page simply loads each plugin as required ans resized the view to fit. There is a standard defined for these (by Apple) and a preset template in Project Builder for them.

The most recently available developer tools for OSX 10.1 (April iirc) contained GCC 3 and instructions for telling ProjectBuilder to use it instead of GCC 2 (USE_GCC3 = YES iirc). It also contained a ban on distibuting apps compiled with it as Apple were still testing it fully and making minor changes.
