Tribes is still very much alive. Unlike with an xbox live game, all you need to do is change the master server the game looks for. http://www.maxogc.net/tribes/master/
I suggest a couple multiplayer shooters.
Warsow
http://www.warsow.net/
and
Urban Terror
http://www.urbanterror.net/
They're both free and based on the open sourced Quake engine (2 and 3). The Intel cards in those Dells should be enough for them. Plus they both have Linux and Windows clients.
My first computer was a Heathkit Zenith Z-100 i got from my dad. it had 2 8088 cpus, 512k of ram, 2 360k 5 1/4" floppy drives, and an external 300 baud modem.
one cpu was used for running cpm in z-100 mode, and the other was used for running dos 3.1 in ibm mode.
funny how the thing would frustrate the hell out of me but i only have fond memories of it now.
i taught myself dos and basic on it.
those were the days...
it cant hurt to try it out. i mean unless you're still on a dial-up connection bandwidth is cheap and so is recordable media. i'm no zealot when it comes to the *nixes, (read i use bsd and linux) i tried the last release of netbsd but it wasnt for me so i went back to freebsd.
i thought jupiter's rings were caused by io's volcanic activity. if i remember they were constantly falling into the planet to be replaced by debris from fresh eruptions on the moon.
exactly. would it be too much to ask for oh i dont know... runlevel switching? a modular design? scripts even? maybe allow me to drop out of the pretty gui with a different 3 key combo than the usual 3 finger salute and actually get some work done under the hood? oh wait... windows. microsoft. nevermind.
gaim used to crash on me while i was browsing through my directories (in gaim) to select a file i wanted to send with it.. turned out it was the visual style i was using with doze that was causing it to crash. wierd but true.
well i don't know about anybody else here, but i hate playing a fps on a console. i'll take my good ol' keytronic kb and intellimouse optical over a controller anyday.
The media circus surrounding this mission was definitely something to behold. Honestly, how could you not expect damage when you strap something to a chemical rocket and shoot it into orbit?
I doubt any of the talking heads yammering on about how dangerous the falling foam problem is actually grasp how much stress the shuttle goes through on launch and reentry.
Although the video of the reentry was interesting. I love how the shuttle isn't designed to fly, but to fall.
you're slightly correct. i've read research that says because of mar's smaller mass its core cooled over time, slowing and eventually stopping its internal dynamo. this of course weakened its magnetic field. allowing solar winds to gradually blow its atmosphere away. interesting thing, mars has areas of different magnetic field strength (because the rocks in those areas have more iron in them) which creates pockets that have a denser atmosphere than the surrounding areas.
imagine all the letters cartoon network will get from enraged parents once this airs
honestly, im a huge fan of the entire evangelion franchise. if it wasn't for eva i wouldn't be into anime.
but the idea of this series chopped up to fit into cartoon network's time slot (5 minutes of plot, 25 minutes of commercials) and edited for content makes me cringe. especially this idea they seem to have that all animes are made for kids. yes it IS animation, but the main story is still very dark. for christ's sake, the writer was suffering from depression when he wrote the original story!
i dont really care IF they did stop bundling gator. divx 5 loaded my system with that shite and since then ive steered clear of them.
ill take xvid over divx anyday, divx 5 support, open source, and nothing bundled.
Exactly, this isn't news. I've lived in Seattle my entire life and this is nothing I haven't heard before.

i think you'll be fine, but then again i'm hoping my athlon 64 3000, 1gb ram, geforce 6600gt 128mb will run it nicely :P

here's the torrent on linuxtracker: http://linuxtracker.org/download.php?id=1363&name= ReactOS.iso.torrent
thanks for that. i spent about an hour last night trying to get the image from sourceforge to no avail.

if windows is on a secondary hard drive, but it thinks its on a primary drive, you need to edit grubs menu.lst as such:
title Windows
root (hd1,0)
map (hd0) (hd1)
map (hd1) (hd0)
chainloader +1
There's another saying: "In a democracy, you get the leaders that you deserve".
Oh yeah, Janeway could captain my Delta Flyer anyday. Oh man, I really need to get out more...

hmm, so they'll piggyback it across country on a 747, but they won't launch it from one at high altitude (like it was originally designed *cough)?

lol i got it. the worst graphics chips ive ever had the misfortune to use have been intel integrated crap. *shudders
