People wonder why getting companies to switch to LInux is so hard? It's this crazy rep that Linux has of being filled with "maverick/crazy" users. Way to go guys in further perpetuating a negative Linux stereotype. Thanks for helping get Linux accepted in the enterprise as a professional system(s).

There is a reason that the legal profession never moved over to Word, and they likewise will not move to ODF, when you need to get to a tightly proscribed document format, both Word and ODF have a "you can't get there from here" fundamental limitation.
Uh, just an FYI. The legal profession uses MS Word. For years they did keep to Word Perfect in the USA, and of the 20 lawyer friend of mine at Tier 1 USA law firms, they all use MS Word. Word Perfect died for the legal profession when it failed to create a decent Windows 3.1 and 95 versions -- lawyers have no idea what is a document format more than related to the word processor they use. :)

While I think "Foolish choice" is a bit strong, I would like mac but the gaming part keeps me back. If they made a decent headless mac that I could dual boot to play games (i.e with a decent graphics card that is user upgradeable). Yes, I know Imac, but i just don't like this form factor -- I want to be able to upgrade things as I want. Mac Pro is too expensive. If Mac made a mid-range headless computer, I would finally make the jump to mac I think..

As usual, with any Vista announcement come the big proclamations saying "Oh, I am not upgrading to vista." Ya ya, whatever....

People said the SAME thing about XP here as well. 5 years later I bet almost all of you windows folks are running XP at this point. Eventually, you will want to buy a new computer and just like XP did, it will come with Vista. Yes, of course people will claim they are going to OS X but I'll believe it when I see the Mac % of worldwide market go above 5%.

Basically everyone will switch one way or another to Vista whether to play some game or some other Vista only application. Microsoft knows & understands this having seen this in all of its Windows releases. That's why they are basically just doing whatever they want...as we all will eventually be assimilated :)
