Some of my relatives are 'whiskey snobs' and would make fun of me for diluting it (just slightly) with water for better taste. Now I can tell them I have science to back me up!
Hmm... Expect mixed results. It seems many people aren't swayed by science and/or facts.
I will continue to avoid buying cars that have wireless communications facilities, though.
Agreed. I'm disappointed that most (all?) new higher-level Hondas come with keyless entry and ignition. I get that it lessens their costs in making door and ignition locks, but at our expense of a $$$ and large keyfob. At this point, I'd pay extra for a regular ignition key and door locks, but that won't be an option. Luckily my 2001 Civic EX (120k miles) and 2002 CR-V EX (46k miles) are in excellent shape, except needing a few clear-coat touch-ups.
Special device needed to carry out local attacks
The research team says that all it takes is a specially-crafted device that attackers have to connect to the car's CAN bus through local open ports.
So, to be clear, a specially-crafted device, connected directly to an open local port.
"The only current recommendation for protecting against this exploit is to limit access to input ports (specifically OBD-II) on automobiles," said ICS-CERT experts in an alert released last month.
Um... So don't let strangers with car hacking gear ride along with you in your car -- or watch them *very* closely -- check.
I was in a motorcycle accident and no one asked for insurance info until after my third surgery.
Perhaps they were more concerned about keeping you alive - and so your insurance info would matter.
Hospital Emergency Rooms in the US are required by law to treat everyone regardless of insurance / ability to pay. Not so much in the other areas of the healthcare industry.

There is a crucial difference between leaders like Washington and Jefferson, imperfect men who helped create the United States, Ms. Gordon-Reed said, and Confederate generals like Jackson and Lee, whose main historical significance is that they took up arms against it. The comparison, she added, also “misapprehends the moral problem with the Confederacy.”
“This is not about the personality of an individual and his or her flaws,” she said. “This is about men who organized a system of government to maintain a system of slavery and to destroy the American union.”
As for the idea of erasing history, it’s a possibility most scholars do not take lightly. But James Grossman, the executive director of the American Historical Association, said that Mr. Trump’s comments failed to recognize the difference between history and memory, which is always shifting.
When you alter monuments, “you’re not changing history,” he said. “You’re changing how we remember history.”
Some critics of Confederate monuments have called for them to be moved to museums, rather than destroyed, or even left in place and reinterpreted, to explain the context in which they were created. Mr. Grossman noted that most Confederate monuments were constructed in two periods: the 1890s, as Jim Crow was being established, and in the 1950s, during a period of mass Southern resistance to the civil rights movement.
“We would not want to whitewash our history by pretending that Jim Crow and disenfranchisement or massive resistance to the civil rights movement never happened,” he said. “That is the part of our history that these monuments testify to.”
“The amazing thing is that the president is doing more to endanger historical monuments than most of the protesters,” he said. “The alt-right is producing a world where there is more pressure to remove monuments, rather than less.”
Also, it seems like many of these Confederate statues glorify traitors and treason - not heritage.
4. Got more republicans than ever to realize that maybe Obamacare isn't so bad -- and that ACA and Obamacare are the same thing, contrary to the Fox News narrative.
Perhaps republicans in general, but I'm not convinced that the ones in office realize (or won't - ever - admit) it "isn't so bad". I think it's just that they couldn't agree on how to efficiently and effectively ignore and/or screw-over the people they don't care about.
Rather than putting pressure on the businesspeople of the Manufacturing Council & Strategy & Policy Forum, I am ending both. Thank you all!

But I'm more inclined to believe that Trump is disbanding the councils to avoid being embarrassed by the publicity of the people on those councils quitting. On the other hand, they don't seem to be really doing anything productive anyway:
Moreover, the panels have not been seen to be particularly effective. After a few high profile events for the groups early in the Mr. Trump’s presidency, there have been few meetings since, and none more are planned.
“So far they haven’t done much,” Ms. Admati said. “They had a few meetings with a bunch of fanfare, but it was more symbolic than anything else.”
Perhaps their intended purpose was simply to make Trump look good and the councils haven't achieved that. Certainly people quitting them en-mass doesn't help that effort either.
Debating facts is moot; when the premise of the debate is "our race is superior to all others and should lead the world," you're already playing chess with a pigeon.
And to those pigeons, I'd like to rephrase a popular Trump and Trump supporter remark: Both the Nazis and the South lost; get over it.
As usual, leftists want to censor things rather than refute them. The greatest enemy to free speech in the world is leftists. If you can refute someone, speak up and do it, even if the speech is disagreeable, such as white supremacy.
You don't refute Nazis.
Well... I don't know if this counts as a refute, but as many (most) of the people involved in the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville seem to be Trump supporters, who (along with Trump himself) are fond of reminding those on the Left, "Hillary lost, get over it", I'd like to offer the following re-phrasing of that sentiment: The Nazis and the South both lost, get over it.
Actually, he's had several job offers from competitors who don't judge people by gender theories.
Who don't judge him by what he wrote this time. Just wait until he spouts something they don't agree with. All companies have lines employees cannot cross.
I wonder if the school district ever thought about talking to UPS and/or FedEx...
They did, but the companies would only guarantee student delivery by 5pm w/o and extra charge and for FexEX if no one was outside to sign for them they'd leave a note and try again the next day -- UPS would just drop the student off behind a bush Also UPS wouldn't deliver anyone over 150 pounds.
exactly. as to her complaining about being talked over and people not listening to her questions until "a guy" said them.... well gues swhat? I AM a guy and ive had the exact same thing happen to me by both men AND women!!! Her sexism is showing
No, they do all that because you're "ganjadude" and no one can ever understand WTF you're going on about.:-)
Here in Texas, they just shoot the traffic sign and skip the middleman.
Way back in 1982 or so I drove from Tampa to Miami and went across the southern, west to east segment of Highway 75 in Florida -- I think it's known as Alligator Alley. Anyway, the road is basically straight all the way across Florida. Along the way were signs that said "Unlawful to discharge firearms within 1/2 mile of road". The signs had all been shot several times.
When a plane can land on the Hudson River without a pilot and without a loss of life, I'll be the first to buy a ticket.
An auto-pilot could probably do that. Making the decision to do so and that it would the best course of action is another matter. Remember, they're talking about "auto-pilots" not "ai-pilots".
I am hoping, though, we can all come together and agree that:
The dilution of whiskey is morally wrong.
Against any dilution? Sounds like you're a member of the malt-right. :-)

Let's not forget about the real problem: leftist nutjob trying to rewrite history by tearing down confederate statue.
Don't Confuse History with Monuments:

Firefox 57 which "promises ... a new look." ... added a screenshot button ... Pocket button in the URL bar ... new New Tab page.
Great. New (or simple more) things to disable.
Also, I read elsewhere that the "screenshot" feature uses Firefox cloud storage - usage terms and conditions to which you'll have to agree.
Dear Firefox Team, How about concentrate on making a great (or even, at this point, good) *browser* - not kitchen sink.
No, the DNC and Hillary Clinton are responsible for the election of Donald Trump.
Sounds like a typical Trump and Trump supporter response - blame someone else. :-)
Not only was the anti-vax cohort not convinced by any of the three campaigns, but their attitudes hardened when another poll was taken a week later.
I'm sure they'll perk up when they get their Darwin Awards.

Don't worry. I sure Damore didn't quite understand them either.

I'm guessing you didn't read where my son rode the bus for 3 years.
Was this bus named Snowpiercer? Did he get time off for meals and bathroom breaks?
Just post something snarky and wait for it to get modded a mix of: funny, troll and informative ...

The world needs this like it needs another messaging service or phone payment system.
Or another Linux distro. :-)

George Lucas will make new ones that don't.
