Video games are supposed to be an escape from reality, like books and movies. To sit and squabble and argue over which one is better just taints the entire experience for me. I am so sick of people picking sides in a war that doesn't need to be fought. I can't wait until all of this launch BS dies down and people can just get back to enjoying what each console has to offer.
The customer reviews pretty much sum them up - I've even got one in there. They do a FANTASTIC job at filtering out our 500 servers, with or without playing music.
Here is the Vagrant Story soundtrack - give it a listen! The Firefly forest sticks out in my head, along with the 5 track opening sequence. The reason I mentioned 12's music as a plus is that it has a lot of overtones and nuances that invoke a great bit of VS nostalgia for me. I'm a huge Uematsu fan too, and I agree with your comments on 12's score. Give Vagrant Story's soundtrack a try though, I think you'll like it - especially in the context of the game. It gives it a very epic, fantasy feel.
... I think you're going to love this game. The score sounds like it's Vagrant Story 2, the animation and character models are like an upgraded version, the voice acting is stellar, the script is superb - and the battle system is so much fun once you really get into it. It's no surprise, since it's the same core team. Probably the best part about the game though is the actitechture and overall design - it's so very atmospheric, there's just so much mood to everything. The tone of the game is much more mature than previous FF's. I could go on but I'd rather get back to playing right now actually:)
Gabe from Penny-Arcade has a review of his first 20 hours with the game that I think is spot on.
This game does for Final Fantasy what Resident Evil 4 did for Resident Evil - it reinvents itself and succeeds in surpassing its predecessors in nearly every way.
... but has anyone considered how fucking cool this will be when people start hacking it and running homebrew apps on it? If we're able to turn an xbox into the amazing machine it is with XBMC, imagine how cool and powerful this device could become. And again, the more portable media players that enter the market, the better they're all going to become.
The three Halo books would certainly not rank as rated R. Just because I would consider them PG13 however, doesn't mean the writing and story is not very competent and compelling. I highly recommend them - they're all really well written, and the storyline is fantastic. If you like military sci fi, you might want to check them out:
Check out this software called Ubersmith. It started out as a billing system, but then grew into a Billing, Support, Device Manager/Monitoring package all integrated into one package. My company uses the Pro version of their software which lets you do SNMP monitoring. The cool thing about this program is that it's all nicely integrated. I have a client, I can click on their profile, view their services, and check out any devices associated with them. It will automatically notify admins or users if a device is down, and even supports APC's for built in remote reboot. Their new software that's coming out called Datacenter Edition looks to be incredibly cool: http://www.ubersmith.com/de_preview/
This has to do with the necessary gradual migration from IPV4 to IPV6, and has nothing to do with Vista. Besides, only routers that support IPv6 will even route the DNS requests to DNS servers. If we want to switch to IPV6, every OS out there is going to have support both in tandem like this. You can't bitch about the slow adoption of IPV6, and then turn around and bitch again when there are insignificant consequences related to the transition.
See, now your response was well thought out and worded in the form of an adult trying to have a conversation. Because of that, I definitely see what you're saying, and agree with you. I wish all/.ers were capable of intelligent conversation, and not just saying "F-SONY!"
This is a review from Top Gear: it's a great clip, however for the point I'm trying to make is about one third of the way in - check out . Things you would consider essentials on a sports car - the sports chrono package (500 pounds), 19" wheels (1260 pounds), fade free carbon ceramic breaks (5350 pounds!), an adaptive dampers (1030 pounds), the SatNav is an extra 1800 pounds - even the rear windshield wiper is an extra 260 pounds. This, all on a car that's already over 50,000 pounds. Tell me again why people are getting bent out of shape here - it's a cheap $20 cable that 5% of PS3 owners are going to want/need - you can't even begin to compare that to a $400 rear windshield wiper that every single person who owned the car (especially in the UK) is going to want AND need.
First, the PS2, Xbox, AND Gamecube all had HD cables sold as add ons. Second - why would Sony ship every PS3 which HDMI cables, when such a tiny percentage of homes even have HDMI ready TV's. HDMI cables are only going to run you $20 anyway: http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/DVI-hdmi_cables .html#std
If you've got $600 to drop on a PS3, you've got another $20 for cables. Move along, nothing to see here.
... that doesn't like Goldeneye? Now let me start by saying I'm not one of those people that just hated it because it was popular and I sucked at it - once upon a time I DID like it. I hate that it gets mentioned here simply because it was the first successful FPS on a console. That doesn't make it a great game. Go back and play it now, and try to write an honest review of it taking out the nostalgia factor. Tell me how fun it is to play with a game that when you're playing with 4 people it runs at 2fps, and where the miserable analog stick makes it impossible to accurately aim.
Now go back and play Doom - guess what - it's still playable, and it's still a ton of fun. Goldeneye did not age well - AT ALL. It was a great game for its time, but I honestly think that's all. Timesplitters 2 for example (done by the same core development team) is a vastly superior game - in all aspects. Now take a look at Zelda 64 - came out around the same time, but what has come out since that you can easily say is flat out better in all aspects? Food for thought...
1: The Toyota MR2 - one of my favorite cars, but I'm pretty sure I would not have bought one based on this commercial alone:

2: Nissan 280Z - check out this guys mustache! I'm pretty sure this guy was the basis for Ben Stiller's character in Dodgeball:

3: The worst of them all - the Buick Grand National. I haven't been able to make i through the whole commercial it's so embarrassing just to watch...

The other books about Nylund were excellent - so I'm very much looking forward to this one.

Yup yup, but the PS3 is also coming with the same hi definition component cables as the 360 - just not HDMI.

Actually, this one is missing features that the regular Xbox and PS2 version has this year as well :(
