Oh no, we should absolutely be looking at this technology. I'm just saying that we have a pretty long way to go to get there. It would be really fantastic if I could take a nap while riding in my car to work.

I have to say that really good AI is most likely the next big thing in computers. It's a really complex problem though. Then you have pattern recognition on top of that. Just getting a computer to recognize a face is a difficult task that only has a certain percentage of accuracy.

There are an awful lot of streets that do not have white lines, or have cars parked on both sides so that there is really only 1 real lane for traffic even though its a 2 way street. What does it do when it reaches an obstacle that avoiding it requires you to break the rules?

You would needs some serious AI and pattern recognition to really replace drivers. There is just too much that can go wrong.

Most real estate agents are bored housewives looking for something to do with their time after the kids can take care of themselves. These are the ones who make $20-35K a year selling real estate. They just look like they're doing well because their husband bought them a nice car to drive around to sell real estate.

There are some who really do it for a living and can make a ton of money if they are good at it, willing to spend ALL of their time doing it, and are lucky.

Real estate agents are not taking home $20,000 on the sale of one house. They get a small fraction of the commission. Most real estate agents are lucky to make that in a whole year if they only work normal office hours. That job requires far too much time for what you get back, especially weekend time which is when most people want to look.

Why does it matter to most people? How many people *REALLY* upgrade just the CPU? It usually doesn't make much sense to do it anymore. And after that what are you supposed to do with the old CPU? Sell it on ebay for $25? Doesn't seem to be worth the effort of doing it.

I'm not saying that I won't wait personally, but if you didn't and just bought a 939 board recently, it doesn't stop being good as soon as AM2 exists. Ooooh, somebody else waited an extra 3 months to buy and got a system that is 2% faster (maybe), it's the end of the world.

I don't know about that. The finalists have some level of singing skill, and presentation, with their own personality contributing. They are not necessarily great *artists* though. None of them are writing their own music or playing instruments, unless you count a voice as an instrument, for example. While we're on that subject is a guitarist who plays the notes on the page an artist?

I agree. It seems funny to think that a 1GB drive in the 90's had about 2mb of cache. Up until recently there have been drives in the 100's of GB range that still had 2mb cache.

I think that it will not be too long before we start to see hybrid hard drives that have a section of solid state/flash type storage built in. Hard drives are a major performance bottleneck. I think I saw someone mention that Windows Vista has a caching scheme where it expects certain drives to be faster, as in solid state.
