I just switched from fedora to ubuntu. Fedora seems to be declining in stability and usability. My original logic for using fedora was that it was redhat like and a lot of my customers would be using redhat or centos.
I never really got my moneys worth out of redhat support either. it would take days for them to respond to an email and by then I would have solved or worked around the issue. So besides having another supported product like oracle or tivoli to run on it there is not much point to wasting the money and using a commercial distro.
For every 1 user that is responsible with work resources there are 5 that will do boneheaded things and break something. Then when you want to reimage their computer to fix it they scream and yell that IT is unable to keep their computer working. Those 5 complain to their bosses and so the complaint count is always greater than the happy count. In all likelyhood the 1 person that knows what they are doing also knows that the other 5 are idiots and its pointless to try and argue with them.
I am being generous with the 1 in 5 btw. I suspect the gap is much greater.
This also explains why calling the helpdesk or customer service results in little getting done. The ratio of lunkheads to competent people is the same in all fields. Not that I am cynical or anything just my experience.
I had a dual proc g5 tower that never really worked quite right and would lock up now and then. We bought 3 of them at once and the other 2 never had a problem. It took close to 8 months to get the problem solved and in the meantime I had to go out and buy another one as having people try to do work on a flaky machine is pretty hard to do.
They pretty much replaced everything by the time they were done with it. One of the last techs just happened to have a new verision of the diagnostic disks that identified a bad cpu or something. After that the machine was flawless.
But 8 months of back and forth with the local store not being able to find the problem and apple saying there is nothing wrong with it was pretty annoying. Something like that with dell would have take a couple of trips best case before they just replaced it.
For what an apple costs compared to a PC they should be more responsive.
Indeed. Bugzilla meets the criteria of being mysql and php. The template system is easy enough to cut out the bits you don't want and add custom fields to keep track of whatever.
If nothing else it is a good place to start since its a download away.
Right.... And use the wonderful MS DNS? The one that went against RFCs and introduced a non-standard character that horked up everything? I am sure MS would have this whole il8n thing sorted out in no time....
What exactly would you replace bind with? Oh wait you don't care your just a troll.
Really 8 hours? MC and BWL can be cleared in around 3 without too much trouble. Which instance takes 8 hours? I guess if you wipe on every other trash pull all the trips back to repair could really stretch it out after you ran out of bots.
Don't forget about saving sharpbeak!!! His parents seemed so happy to see him. Except when the quest was bugged and his corpse just layed there like a boneless chicken.
Wait till you have to do the onyxia key quest. You will be wishing for the go kill x number of troggs quest. Then when you get to kill Onyxia and find out it takes a half hour and you can only do it every 3 days you wonder...
But I still play and have several level 60s on 2 accounts. Once you get sick of UBRS it is either PUGs or join a better organized guild.
After thier failed rootkit installation they just decided a better route would be to destroy every computer starting with laptops. They probly gave dell a good deal to get the most coverage. Next they will be in the desktop power supply market and those will start going up in flames as well.
The sad thing is before the rootkit I was a big fan of sony. One of thier cameras was the front runner in my search and a PS 3 was a thought. Now I bash sony every chance I get to anyone who will listen. It was thier choice to buy BMG and if they did not reign them in then they have to live with the consequences. Maybe if they had left the name as BMG rather than changing it to sony-BMG then not so many would have noticed it. They didn't they wanted to be associated with them and associated they are...
It is pretty easy to change the standard templates to look however you want. You can put in default values for the bugzilla required fields so the user does not have to enter them or don't even show them at all. It also has a mechanism for adding custom fields for things that are not there that you want to track.
I spent less than a week working with it and stripped out a lot of the stuff that is more bug related and ended up with a workable ticket system. I added a custom field for needed by date and another for end date for temporary requests.
I installed it on my athlon64 shuttle XPC and at first anaconda kept stack dumping. I thought it was having trouble upgrading from the previous fedora install so I had it format the partition. I ended up with a grub prompt that would do nothing. I should have just tried to get fedora to install grub in a/boot partition but instead used the windows recovery. After that I could never get anything to work and even had to boot back into the fedora installer just to get the disk repartitioned in a reasonable way.
I ended up reinstalling win2k. Lost my saved games so it was not the end of the world but I had just reinstalled in january. It was not due to be done again for another 2 months.
Yay I am a windows admin too! Fight the power! Demand a pointy clicky interface!

Don't blame me I voted for Kodos.
You need to buy a BEA license to use peoplesoft. I think thats the only reason they are even around anymore. Oracle and BEA deserve each other.
So apple will lose the 12 sales to windows fanboys who run 64 bit xp. I think they are more worried about at&t botching the whole thing.

Now that would be pretty cool to have it be distributed. I can't imagine how you would deal with the latency and trying to keep nodes synced.
Reminds me of how the net worked in the book snow crash. Backwards from real life but it was still a good book.
The cheap part is the code... How is the project going to be hosted?
Last I checked it still cost money to put a cluster of computers on the internet.

Oh yeah? well... Your a big doodie head...

I wonder if it comes with the rootkit preinstalled?

Heh maybe they meant carnivore. Wonder if he was misquoted or if he was confused.

my diapers dirty. I soiled myself. Someone clean me ( bail me out).
works with pretty much any game.
Read thier response. They claim he offered consulting fees to help fix the holes.
He was dropped from the security company for that.
I recomend rectal storage.
