I haven't heard too many complaints about Voyager when they used a Chinese guy to (very badly imo) play a Korean. And of course lets not forget Heroes with it's... Korean playing a Japanese character. But it does make me wonder why there seems to be more Korean American actors than Japanese.
Perhaps, but it's one fairly popular person. I'd say on par with Gabe and Tyco of Penny Arcade fame. I guess a check from GenCon (how did they submit the money anyways?) is a bit more obvious than a check from Gary Gygax, but he's been doing it for years. You'd think some D&D hating group would've found out and tattled on them a long time ago. Think of all the politician X is taking dirty/hypocritical money articles you see every year.
The Gary Gygax (co-creator of D&D) donated to this group for quite some time without any issues, but after all that, when they don't accept the cash people hurl accusations of D&D hatred? Doesn't work logically imo. It's possible management (therefore their philosophy) changed, but I haven't heard anything about that. While I personally think it makes little sense, imo I think we have to simply accpept the "we don't endorse this game conventions" rationale. It makes more sense than the "we hate D&D, thanks for the cash Gygax!" kneejerk pov.
Oh wait, silly me. Release code for free, and your competitors (which includes open source) could create something that carves a significant piece of the MMO niche, and that's unacceptable unless you totally ditched that market.
If a MMO goes down, what does the creditors gain by keeping the severside code secret? I mean like after the chance of the code being bought by another group goes down the drain. Is there still an economic rationale?
It's ok since the object in question (whether it's the Wii, the iPhone, or a lot of things) has value despite the DRM, and as someone else said not all of/. is on a crusade to defeat locked hardware. Also, there is a bit of fanboism involved, and in the case of the Wii, we've long accepted that game consoles would be locked. I find that the less pragmatic an item is and more artsy and/or entertainment the chances of accepting a DRM increase by a fair amount. Convience trumps all of course.
On the other hand, with torrent my download never ever starts cause it's several months old, and there are no seeders. At least with ed2k I can actually get the file even if it takes a week or so. The two have quite a different philosophy. Edk2 prioritizes sharing as many files as possible at the expense of speed, while bittorrent cares more about grabbing the files one wants relativly quickly.
Now question is, how will you ensure players are creating decent content instead of:
A: Kill this uber monster optimized to level you asap.
B: Kill this uber monster that you've no chance of defeating cause I like to laugh while you die.
c: Kill this penisvagina monster.
Allowing players to vote on content and having the devs implement the high ranking ones removes B and C, but A will never go away short of a MMO that doesn't require grinding of any short whether it be item grind or level grind.
Doubt it. For a bunch of designer soliders who's mission in life is to die as quickly as possible, a penis would just be a tiny unnecessary vestigial organ at best.:)
Where in blazes are people pulling these semantics from? Dictionary.com and wikipedia make geek and nerd out to be synonyms, and in my social group geek has become the positive word thanks to things like ThinkGeek, and GeekSquad being somewhat cool things that are romanticised.
By last episode are you talking about the episode with a faction of human xenophobis, or the TNG episode that masquraded as an Enterprise episode with Riker playing make believe in order to resolve a moral conflict? Ugh, Trip pantomiming his death scene, and the entire Enterprise crew remaining stagnant for almost a decade? I'm about ready to accept the fanfics that claim it was all a pointless ruse by Section 31.
Honestly, what makes indie games any different? If someone were to spend time creating addons for their game it's only due to greed if the creator is backed by a big corporation? Your cynicism suggests you should assume all addons are a insulting grab for money and swear off video games completly...
I interpreted that as person used computer to contact child, and also had underage pornagraphy. I suppose noting person tried to screw a stranger instead of a family member is kind of relevant.
What are you talking about? By Dec. 2006 they sold 120,000 copies of the game. (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3155690) Now that aint Final Fantasy sales great, but it's nowhere near a flop.
Well put, only I doubt piracy is an issue with MMOs considering they're either completly free, or the software itself is free (well eventually) and the only thing you're paying for is accessing the servers. Dunno, perhaps you meant cheating? I mean heck that third paragraph would work just fine with piracy replaced with cheating.
Let's not forget the Ouendan series that were so heavily imported they ended up creating the localized version Elite Beat Agents...

Whoops, seems I forgot to directly answer your main issue...
The reason I mentioned proving the nonexistience of god, is because that's the only way someone can justify their belief that people with religion = deluded and/or crazy. There're reasons faith can be harmful, but the basic idea that a entity in the sky cares for us is imo about as rational as say believing in luck, or thinking that an item is worth more/less just because of it's previous owner. We all have irrational quirks and beliefs. I'd say we save the smugness for those who're obviously deluded and believe in false things, not those that have hope, as strange as their views may seem to us.
As an agnostic I think the question "is there a god" to a pointless one since the answer is "I don't know." I said nothing about proving the non-existence of god, if I followed that path, I'd be atheist, not agnostic.
Personally, I'd say the notion of a higher being is a notch above "nonsense, delusion, or insanity," but that's just speculation on my part.
I believe the rationale is all that carbon came from biomatter so releasing it would be carbon neutral. Same mindset behind carbon spewing biodiesel.

Can you give examples of recent games that merge the narritive with gameplay?
Well... usually this happens when there's a lack of role models from the previous generation (hintity hint hint). : )

How do you propose people send data asap when you've possibly hundreds or even thousands of people who want something from you?

Er.. well excellent or something. Your post is only vaguely related to my previous post, but good for you for being a savvy consumer?
