Could this have something to do with the fact that China Telecom charges close to $1 per minute for calls to United States and Europe?
As the article stated:
China routinely blocks access to Web sites on politically sensitive subjects such as the banned Falun Gong spiritual movement and the 1989 crackdown at Tiananmen Square
I'd say it has more to do with the fact that people (mainly Falun Gong practitioners) like to use services such as Skype to tell Chinese mainlanders, who don't have access to free (as in speech) media, the truth about the persecution that's going on there.
Nobody said anything about creating "new money" for me and my family. We're just talking about forcing some of the larger companies' money to trickle down to us.;)
Well, the skeptic thing is really more of a joke. I apologize for confusing you. What isn't a joke, however, is the truth of the universe. Please try to approach it with an open mind.
I'll tell you how they'll handle it. They'll handle it the same way they handled Y2K, and that's by offering more jobs for people like me. The increase in demand for employees posessing the special skills needed to fix this problem will subsequently raise the expected salary for software engineers and IT professionals. Under these premises, I'd say this gives us something to toast and look forward to.
I hope that Bush doesn't screw this up by not signing off.
We apologize for the somewhat poor quality pictures... the creator of this masterpiece says that soon he will let us know exactly how he created this hardware modification, of course the software side of things is not fully functional."
So, basically what you're saying is that I can take anything with cables, connect it to a PSP adaptor with electrical tape, take low resolution pictures which show absolutely nothing definitive, declare that I've done a hack, and you will then declare it a masterpiece while posting it on the front page of your news section, thus somehow fooling someone (not to mention CmdrTaco) into thinking that this is material worthy of the/. community's attention.

The article's author was a bit lazy, however; he should have made his images as.gif's with transparent backgrounds because they look like crap on my browser's settings. With.gif's and this technique, forms with revolutionary design are achievable.
I also recommend thesetechniques for new web designers (the source and authors of them will come as a huge "duh" to professionals, I'm sure).

Prior to the Columbia Disaster, NASA's fleet made numerous flights while being pelted with enormous chunks of foam as the shuttles were in their previously thought safe and stable condition. I'm still not convinced that the incident wasn't just a fluke.
Now, in order to ensure/improve the safety of a few dozen future rocket riders, should the government allocate millions of tax payer dollars?
I think that astronauts getting blown to smithereens shouldn't be unexpected, nor should it enrage anyone, no matter what the NASA chooses to launch astronauts into space in. It goes with the territory; risk goes hand in hand with riding rockets.
The product in TFA is only 25cm in diameter, and if the featured image of the display is up to scale, then its display dome is going to be about 20cm in height. I can't imagine the display of this thing can be too good from underneath with the bottom of this device in the way. It is also stated in TFA that, in order for this thing to work, the screen on the inside has to spin at 15 revs/sec.
You can imagine the complexity of this device as it grows in scale. Even having a version of it at double the width and height is going to cause issues in trying to control the stability of all of its components. The velocity of the outermost edge of the screen (closest to the enclosing dome) is going to increase significantly as the device increases in size. All the while, you're creating a tornado within the dome.
I'm afraid that large scale versions of this device are going to be infeasible in functionality, production, and especially cost (this baby version costs 40 grand) as many complications are going to arise.

Yes, your rant is very justified. This is why I do something like this.
<while placing tinfoil hat on head>
I have nothing to fear and never will. I have nothing to hide so what am I afraid of?

When I'm on the web, even when looking at my bank account, I'm not trying to be held up by extraneous questions.
Keep the password.
Keep the button (which seems like a great idea by the way).
Ditch the three questions.
According to Firefox extensions site, you need to "uninstall or upgrade now." The post is from today.

If only /. editors could develop a method for fusing dups.
