  1. Re:I run epsxe on my laptop on Sony Ceases Production of PSOne · · Score: 1

I'm sure we are all aware of the fact that emulation is no easy task and the developers created the emulators at their free time, etc, so we really shouldn't expect to have it working 100% without any work on OUR part. If you are having trouble with the settings, visit ngemu's forum. There are many people who are very knowledgeable in this area and very willing to help (so long you do not break the rules). Just to give an example, FFIX works better on ePSXe 1.52 than the newest 1.6. Good luck.

This sounds like an awesome idea! For PSX games, most of them are either out-of-print or very difficult (if not impossible) to find, and this also applies to some PS2 ones already (e.g. Disgaea). If they want, it could open the door to wider library of games than before; I personally would love to try out some games that never got out of Japan, some that are ruined by poor dubbing (I don't like dubbing in general). Another benefit might be the load time, since they'll probably be run off HDDs. Imagine your favorite RPG without the load times between each screen! Hope this flies.

Actually there are quite a few decent, budget cards to be found. I myself just recently purchased a refurbished Leadtek 6800LE online. Even at stock speed, it should be able to handle most games fine at mid-high quality settings at 1024x768 resolution. These cards are quite popular with the budget overclockers/gamers, as there's chance to unlock their hidden 8 pixel pipelines and 2 vertex units. In my case, I was only able to unlock 2 vertex units, but with stock cooling the card went up to 400mhz core and 800mhz memory. It is no 6800gt/ultra, but still plenty fast for $95. But yeah, if you ask me I'd still say the best bang for the buck gaming system for $500 is an Xbox360/PS3.

Actually I've always wondered why multiplayer games for a single PC has disappeared even though the machines themselves have increasingly become more capable. I remember playing fighting games on PC with one player using the number pads and another using the letters. Sure it was a bit awkward, but it was still multiplayer. And now that we have PCs with lots of USB ports and better hardware, this kind of game seem to have all be disappeared. Gaming over the net sure has the convenience, but could it really replace the kind of fun you have with friends actually next to you?
Not long ago I tried to organized a small LAN party with friends. It sure was a lot of work moving all the CRTs, keyboards/mice, and the machines themselves. Not to mention this requires that everyone to have a machine and a capable one. The monitors may be small, but what video cards don't have TV-out these days?
What's your guys' take on this? Is there simply no such demand or the hardware is incapable?

Actually only one Cell would be in the PS3, it'll have 7 SPEs (Synergistic Processing Elements) and one disabled for "redundancy" is their reason, but in fact is to increase yields.
