If I didn't want to have cookies on my PC, I'd disable them in the browser. This bad law annoys the crap out of me, and I don't even live in the country that implemented it.
This isn't entirely true. My coworker who manages all of our PCs is testing Windows 8 on his Lenovo laptop. He gets blue screens two or three times per week because of driver issues that haven't been worked out yet.
You want to increase your exposure, you just don't want to increase your exposure. Hmm. If you want to leverage the benefits of social networking, you may need to make a bit of a trade off here.
FWIW, the "Facebook for Business Pages" stuff is kind of gimped - you can't "Like" other pages and you are limited in other ways. I ended up making up an EMail address and a fake name in order to "Like" other pages (for the free music giveaways), but now Facebook seems to recognize that account on every page I visit.
I've done the Twitter thing for a couple months now, and if they are following me around the web I haven't seemed to notice.
why the fuck aren't YOU being considered for the position?
I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to be the boss. Approving time sheets and attending manager meetings and balancing budgets sounds freaking awful.
Searched for "Google Maps" in the app store and it came up 5th in the search results. Now they just need to implement Google Search in the store and we'll be set.
ODBC / JDBC takes care of the connection, protocol and authentication, but it definitely doesn't take care of vendor-specific dialects.
Most good databases support ANSI SQL standards, but those specifications are lacking in too many ways to build a completely functional application without having to poke around with implementation-specific hacks.
TCP needs enough buffer that it can hold a copy of each packet sent until it receives an acknowledgment because it may need to re-transmit the packet if it gets lost.
law school at an Ivy league with a total of 5,000 in debt.
Um, Ivy League and other high-end private universities offer insane amounts of tuition assistance to any and all students who manage to get accepted. You don't make it into the Ivy League and leave buried in debt. You're either super-wealthy when you go in, or you're one of the very rare public high school graduates who made the cut and received heavy amounts of financial aid in return.
T-Mobile doesn't have iPhone in the US because we have a highly fragmented spectrum for cell phones. T-Mobile uses GSM, which is compatible, but in the US it's on an entirely different set of frequencies that the iPhone doesn't support.
I don't think there are any good replacements to Active Directory. It's a pretty marvelous and full-featured system. I think Microsoft was dumb for releasing Windows RT without support for it.
Also, speaking as an open source fanboy, I still think SQL Server is one of the best pieces of software ever made. IIS, Exchange and Sharepoint are all junk.
We just made an enormous upgrade to our ERP system. It was an expensive move, sure. It took us well over a year to pull it off. But we retired a bunch of aging technology (see ya later, AS400!) and I would say the project in general was a huge success.
Coding while high is stupid. Clouded & foggy thoughts make it difficult to focus on the concrete aspects of writing code.
On the other hand, thinking about coding while high is incredibly relaxing. A totally different mindset that can lead to clever solutions... that are usually implemented the next morning.
If nothing else, it's incredibly effective at removing stress at night.

Steam for Linux doesn't include any kernel modules nor does it alter the way the kernel works. It doesn't replace any existing system libraries.
So no, it's not a rootkit.
Windows 7 drivers work in Windows 8.

At that rate, you are more likely to die in an airline catastrophe.
And how many people died this year on an American airliner?
If you're going to pretend that facts are important to you, you might as well use them. You know, for the sake of consistency.
I buy 3000 rolls of toilet paper drive to the middle of a busy interstate and dump them in a huge pile.
Please take photos!
I donated $30 last night after reading this article.
My reasons are 1) I think the BSD license is awesome, 2) SSH rocks, and 3) OS diversity is a good thing.

I'd rather do things than manage them.

Thanks for the explanation!

I have a Macbook and I think it's a mostly "meh" experience with a shitty screen and heavy hardware.
I just bought an iPhone 4S for use on a prepaid plan and found the experience to be very different, that is, much better than the Macbook.

Another person my boss reports to believes mysql is not a professional database server.
As long as ALLOW_INVALID_DATES is built into MySQL, it will never be a professional database server.
Try and find an enterprise grade accounting/erp system for a 20-200 person company that doesn't rely on Windows.
Um, lots of ERP systems run on Java and therefore are OS independent. They're not GPL software, but they will run on a GPL'ed OS.
How in the hell does that address any part of the submitters question?
Even on my old iphone4 it's faster and easier to read and does everything I want.
I take it you don't use it for navigating public transportation.
Using Google Maps on iPhone was my favorite way to navigate big cities. Now when you click the "Public Transit" icon, the App Store laughs at you.
When I report a bug to Microsoft they don't tell me to fix it myself.
When I report a bug to Microsoft they don't tell me anything at all.
Do you think that the Patriot Act would be re-authorized if it was put up for national referendum?
Sadly, yes. Most Americans believe the TSA is doing a good job.
nothing would matter because we wouldn't be here.
Oh yes, there would still be matter. The universe is important with or without us.

I'm thinking next time, I'll just use telnet and a pipe.
Joke's on you, buddy. Telnet hasn't been included with Windows Server installs for years now. How ridiculous!
The install footprint is measured in gigabytes but an essential 500KB tool isn't included by default.
