Content producers wonder whether Google's push into video search will unravel the economics that make Hollywood hum. If viewers can find and legally download an episode of "Seinfeld" through Google, will that cut into cable and network television's profits?
How is this any different than searching on google RIGHT NOW?
You've probably never heard of Rates Technology Inc. (RTI), and that wouldn't be surprising since the company has no products and offers no services.
They have also been to court some 25 times, and in once instance Weinberger warned that a defendant had better be ready to spend at least US$1,000,000 on legal fees, because that's how they roll (paraphrased, of course).
This is what happens when you have too many lawyers, not enough clients, and an excessive amount of greed. People will find a way to sue for anything. It is not a question of who is right or wrong, it is more a question is who can quickly profit in this complex legal game. The US has more lawyers per capita than any other country in the world, and you can see the result. The lawyers win in the end since they will make huge fees and suffer little or no consequences from their actions.
"It might be psychological, but it does make a difference," he said. "You walk into a meeting and everybody knows immediately that you're orange. It changes things a little bit -- however slightly, but it does."
People recognizing your orange badge instantly makes you an 'outsider' or 'not really and employee' at Microsoft. It is in people's nature to want to belong to a group, and once they see that you are not part of their group, you are not deemed as trustworthy or good enough to be part of their select group.
If I ran Microsoft, I would make a lot of changes but first I would not make badges with an opposing colour scheme. Everyone should have the same badge, eliminating the psychological effect of being an 'outsider' or 'not really part of the same team.' One less thing to worry about and one less possibility for employees to become divisive and uncooperative.
Programming code embedded in these pages would install a program that warned victims their machines were infested with spyware, then prompted them to pay $40 to remove the supposed pests.
Where do you send the money? And they aren't afraid of getting caught?
Although it wasn't really a prank, it could be up there with the all-time hyped events that had little or no climax to them. People thought that on January 1, 2000 all the electricity and communication grids were going to shut down and the world was going to turn into the Planet of the Apes.
"You see, they wrote all this software and to save space, they put
98 instead of 1998. So I go through these thousands of lines of code and, it doesn't really matter. I don't like my job. I don't think I'm gonna go anymore."
According to the article, Dell chose Blu-Ray because of its greater capacity and long list of industry backers. Dell now realizes that it is not necessarily as advantageous as it once was to partner with MS on everything. With the rise of online companies such as Google, the MS stranglehold is loosening. Dell probably sees that and now wants to break out of its old marketing habits.
I still think that Dell will do whatever it can to sell the most PCs in volume, so if that means further customization without Microsoft products/partners, so be it. Linux will be offered when enough people are demanding it as a viable alternative to Windows.
This is technology and information that has gone to the power of the police state. In the forseeable future, no one will be able to break the law and get away with it.
Pretty soon we will be living in houses with video screens on walls and will be constantly told that in order to have peace, you must have war...oh wait a minute...um nevermind.
"Hitachi, Toshiba and Renesas today announced that they have initiated a joint study on the feasibility of an independent semiconductor foundry business offering advanced fabrication processes to which each of the companies could outsource fabrication."
If you create a company to make a product for you, shouldn't it be called insourcing?
If you are able to replace certain cells in the body with new ones, does the aging process still have an effect on its development and effectiveness?
Even if you are able to grow a new liver from stem cells for your resident alcoholic, does this mean you will have to grow a new brain in order not to repeat the process?
Yeah...it's just that we're supporting HD-DVD in all copies of Vista before they go out now. So I'd really appreciate it if you could just remember to use HD-DVD from now on. That'd be great.
Make up your mind, is it imminent or could it be something else?
Coming soon: An mp3 player with a cell phone in it.
In my opinion, many people are trying too hard to be clever and advanced.
I was advanced once, but unfortunately it just left me waiting for everyone else to catch up.

If this is the case, then they are not relying on more than one method of verification and that is not very secure.
Who oversees the overseers?

The question must be asked:
Did the amount of time and energy spent on this case roughly equate with the settlement?
I am all for suing spammers, but let's make it real money, say £300,000.00?
new slogan:
"Play it not so loud, 90 decibels or less is preferred."
that's Orwellian with a side of fries.
What did the Facist Food restaurant worker say Winston Smith as he ordered his gruel?
---Would you like lies with that?
"Pioneer just released a Blu-ray DVD drive for PC's"
Living up to their name I see.

I hear Windows Vista is going to fix all of these previously unknown problems...stay tuned for the exciting conclusion in 2006.
Considering these are the weapons of choice these days in Iraq, I fail to see how this is going to protect you if a Humvee can't even stop them.
Now you can play Burnout 3 in your car AND on the road simultaneously. A lifelong desire fullfilled.
