not to be a jerk but if you had a PIX doing routing i can see why it failed, that isn't what it is for. as for the switch what type.. and what do you mean by crash.. i know that just because something is expensive doesn't make it good.. but i have never had any problems with cisco equipment (except refurbs...) now i have seen alot of times when someone put too small of a router or switch in for their needs and didn't know any better.
and as for Cisco's VPN concentrators.. they are very good if you use cisco's client.. they don't play well with others.. but the routers and switchs are very nice.
just wanted to note.. while yes Cisco is overpriced they most certainly are not crap.. they do exactly what they are supposed to do and they do it well. if you are looking for something that is above the average Joe's network you are going to have to pay whether it be Cisco, foundry, or anyone else - most people that have Cisco switches don't use half the features that they get with them.. they just plug them in and run.. it is their configurability that makes them rock.
that is damn annoying.. USB was not ment as a damn power source it was 5v.5 A for a total of 2.5 watts.. now shit is taking too much power and trying to use the USB port for power.... why the hell would i plug my phone into my laptop just for power.. i could see if it is a data cable and power was a plus.. but power only.. that is crap..
and they are shoving them on everything.. i recently boguht a boster box.. (a self contained box to jump cars) and it had a damn USB port on it.. why.. someone tell me who's bright idea this was.. mabey we can plug them into a USB port....
Well it is basicly forced Cavitation of the hull and while there is no reason why this wouldn't work there are a few issues why you might not want to do it.
first the noise - normal ships going throught water don't make that much noise - but a cavitation prop does.. this is bad for sea life..
the second issue would be that a cavitating prop doesn't propel very well.. infact a prop running in backwash doesn't work well. How are they going to keep the air from effecting the props efficence - if you pump that much air into the water then the prop isn't going to be as effctive.. unless you position it below the cavitation but then you are increasing the ships draft.
thrid would be Bouyency - pumping the air into the watter will chance it's density - making the ship sit deeper - again increasing it's draft..
when you increase a ships draft it increases the amount of energy to move as you have to displace that much more water. - i like the idea with sails better my self..
while i know some will gawck at the "in half" but that makes sence.. if it is continued.. if it ramped up then halved it up and then if no feedback faved it up again and then haved down using the last known good rate as the base then you would find the optimum transmission rate in log n time.. which is damn good.. but climbing back up at 1 byte per round trip is obseen.. i am not sure.. i can't remember how ti does it.. i didn't realize the frame control was that bad.. if it is someone seriously needs to redefine that spec.. suing the idea of halfs to get log n for the best speed is good but if what you say is true.. good god
yea.. and that would be just another thing to sit under my tv.. i had a dvd player.. pulled it out and stuck a pc there.. it plays dvd's fine and i can play games on it..
the Wii on the other hand would more than likly be better for my wife to use as we don't have a HDTV and she can't read the text on the computer when on the TV..
i really like the idea of the Wii chanels and if it could play dvd's then i would go get one today and replace the computer with it tonight.. i don't like the idea of having a switch box inputs and having to teach my wife how it all works..
the only reason she gets by with the dvd being on the computer is that XP Media Center suprisingly has a good interface
sounds like the chicken and egg problem.. i hope they can make it work for them.. but for right now i am glad i don't have stock in sony.. don't get me wrong.. i think teh ps3 is way over priced and i don't like how they did alot of suff.. but to be honest the more types of consoles out there the better off we all are.
the sad part is your way off.. sony makes 8$ per copy of 3rd party games.. at a 306$ loss they need 38.25 3rd party games sales to break even.. i don't know anyone with that many games for one consol..
they are hopeing to make it up with movies.. trying to make blue ray have a a foot hold in the home.. i don't know how much they make per disk on that.. but it better be alot or this is going to really sting
i agree with you in that we woln't get a chance (wich saddens me) but i would also like to point out that hanging my self is kinda pointless.. going to mars.. isn't.. going to the moon.. no i wouldn't die for that.. but mars yes..
the disk was over writen with a disk imager.. the idea that it was updating the file system from fat16 to 32 is pointless.
data that is "genuinely-overwritten" can be recovered and it can be with software.. it all depeneds on what access to the raw data from the drive you have.. for that you would need to talk to ontrack as they can tell you how it works..
but for data.. if you over write a 1 with a 0 it will have a diffrent level of charge as if you over wrote a 0 with a 1 with a 1 or any other combo..
I am no expert but i do know that it can be done.. i have done it and i have had it done by ontrack.. (by the way they are really damn expensive.. )
yea.. and well.. screw the robotic stuff.. i will go.. i don't care if i die.. it would be worth it to be the first man on a space rock.. shit.. i would go to Mars even if i knew i wouldn't be able to get back.. just to go..
not true.. i have a litte program called Tiramisu Data Recovery right here that i have used to recover data from drives that have been formated and had the OS reinstalled over.
i remmber one instance when a dumb tech read the wrong sheet.. took a win95 FAT16 computer formatted it and installed win98 FAT32.. I was able to recover the FAT16 partition and restore the whole system back to the orginal state and then install the modem (which was what the damn thing came in for)
it is amazing what they can do... Ontrack is by far one of the best data recovery companies out there.. You know the shuttle that blew up.. they where able to get 99% of the data back from the drives that where on it.
short of melting and then grinding and melting and grinding i don't know how you could ever really get rid of the data.
it was called shotgunning.. it was a hack on how ISDN did it with multi chanels.. it worked aslong as your isp supported it and you had the phone lines.. i know because i used to do 3 of them for a total of a 156k (52k*3) - never got 56k on any of the damn lines.
bonneded DSL was neet too but required all your lines to be F1 pairs and they had to go to the same DSLAM, better to use the F1 pair as either a T1/fractional Frame or PRI - but they charge good money for that.
i agree.. IBM doesn't seem to give a crap about power consumption on their designs.. they want speed and effeciency - Apple wanted lower power consumption IBM couldn't deliver and waisted time trying. and some unknown sales rep at Intel got lucky

you hit it dead on.. they should be able to patent their implmentation of an idea.. but not the idea it's self.

a greenish red - why do you ask?
i feel the same way...... and i got mine new about a month after it came out......

what that much bandwith I hope there isn't a queue

yea i read that too.. but that is a year away and in Japan.. i live in the US.. i only hope they bring it over here..and quickly
only reason i didn't get one is it doesn't play dvd's.. now if they ever release one that does.. i am all game.
sounds like the chicken and egg problem.. i hope they can make it work for them.. but for right now i am glad i don't have stock in sony.. don't get me wrong.. i think teh ps3 is way over priced and i don't like how they did alot of suff.. but to be honest the more types of consoles out there the better off we all are.
"Which other console ships with a HD cable?"
humm the premium xbox 360 does..
if i pay 600$ for a damn console give me a damn cable to hook it up.
the sad part is your way off.. sony makes 8$ per copy of 3rd party games.. at a 306$ loss they need 38.25 3rd party games sales to break even.. i don't know anyone with that many games for one consol..

if you would like i can buy a switch and flash it with nothing and sell it to you.. but money frist and no returns.
humm.. i don't know who you talking about.. but i do have a life.. i have a Wife and a house and a good job.. and i am in good shape..
and i would still take a one way trip to Mars given the chance..
it all depends on what you feel is more important to you.
i agree with you in that we woln't get a chance (wich saddens me) but i would also like to point out that hanging my self is kinda pointless.. going to mars.. isn't .. going to the moon.. no i wouldn't die for that.. but mars yes..

cisco has 40GBPS links.. but i think the max lenght is 2m.. they use it for the really high end routers
i agree.. IBM doesn't seem to give a crap about power consumption on their designs.. they want speed and effeciency - Apple wanted lower power consumption IBM couldn't deliver and waisted time trying. and some unknown sales rep at Intel got lucky
same here... sounds intresting.
