That is why we put all of our backup tapes in a red box and then attach them to a carrier pigeon to get them to our off-site secure storage.

  2. Batteries on Wi-Fi Coming on U.S. Domestic Flights · · Score: 1

This is the third article today where battery life has taken something cool and made it less cool.

  3. System Administrator on CA Warns Of Massive Botnet Attack · · Score: 1

I hope Botnet is a nicer Admin than our current one. Maybe it will stop by virus scanner from starting at 9am everyday. I guess my only question is can I still share my MP3s with other people on my BotNetwork or will that put my job in jeopoardy.

  4. It bothers me. . . on Online Shoppers Naive About Online Prices · · Score: 1

This article and all the comments are making a big deal out of this but note that there are only two concrete examples of this practice in the article. Out of these two examples, one of companies offered a refund to the customers who paid a higher price. This "practice" occurs significantly less than the article implies and certainly less than the summary implies. Everyone complaining about this needs to rta. The summary of this article is also misleading, this article is about consumer ignorance of online and offline shopping and credit. Most of the data in the article is based off of survey statistics and not facts.

  5. Content driving subscriptions on Sirius in Negotiations With Apple · · Score: 1

As long as Sirius and DirecTV are the only ones with all the football games, I will be a Sirius and DirecTV customer and will not even consider any offer from their competitors. The point is, if a Stern fan is like a football fan, that will make the decision for him.

  6. Techies embrace standards on Real ID: You Can Still Fight It · · Score: 1

One thing I don't think people are getting is that this isn't another piece of plastic or a separate id. It is a driver's license. Right now all 50 states have different driver's licenses/id cards with different data stored in magnetic strips and different laminates to make them harder to copy. This bill basically creates a standard for individual state ids and centralizes the information store. Being opposed to this bill is like being against the W3C for proposing a standard xml specification.

The industry doesn't need more people. It does need more smart people. That doesn't mean college educated people because college just makes you marketable. Finish college, but don't enter the industry unless you are smart.
