I agree with you. Right now a government can tax Blizzard for carrying out an economic activity (such as creating games and such). But there's no government inside the game. I'm a WoW player. I play a "tax" of some sorts for economic activity through the auction house. And that's it. If one day, the players form a government inside a realm, and they claim taxes, I wouldn't like it but I'd agree with it because then it makes sense.

And believe me, if that thing of taxing MMORPG money ever happens, then we'll stop trading with it and find another way.

It is actually very close to a belief. What's a number? We all decided what 1, 2, 3, etc means as in maths, but a number is such an abstract concept it gets very close to what you believe a number is. That's the reason why most kids have problems with maths, is because is too abstract. I don't know if I'd call science a religion, but maths are really very close to philosophy.

What I've heard, testosterone is related to sexual drive. I know some mid-age women that have been treated with testosterone to cure their lack of interest in sex, and it works. Like the parent said before me, it has nothing to do with homosexuality. At all.

Yes, "Y" spermatozoids are faster, but "X" ones live longer. So, if by the time they're inside and no egg is there to be fertilized, chances are that "Y" ones will die, and "X" will win if an egg is released afterwards.

You know, I was thinking about that too, but in another point of view. If they can study how a male teen reacts and functions towards a game, it would be very interesting to do the same with a female teen, and study the differences in responses and reactions. I find that very interesting.

My thought exactly. The mere idea of doing a "Women " is sexist. I prefer being one more of the crowd (in this kind of things) than being separated for something "women only". I've always thought that equality will be achieved when, besides the "International Women's day" there will be some "International Men's day". We have differences, but we're equal in rights. Stop with the separation!!

I was thinking the same about guns of WoW, but I guess the difference is that you're not shooting lasers or high-tech ammo, just small rocks and basic bullets. It fits with the world. And only one class uses them as main weapon (and sometimes). The rest uses them to pull, and they still have to do melee. About spellcasters, I think that was very well explained some post ago.

  24. Re:I'm not so sure the guns are the issue. on Fantasy Trumps Sci-Fi For MMOs · · Score: 1

I agree with you. And to add something to your comment, with fantasy games, you pretty much know who are the "good guys" and the "bad guys", and in general, people like to know in which side they are (any of them), because that gives them a clear background (independant of if you're a griefer or not, that's gamer related). With sci-fi, that separation isn't clear, and you're on your own (generally speaking). Some gamers don't feel comfortable with it.

And as a personal opinion and taste, I prefer being surrounded by forests or castles than by the cold giant space.

I don't know. One thing are speculations and theories and such, and another is having the tools or technology to proof that theory. They believed in the past that the Earth was flat because there wasn't proof of the contrary. Same for the Sun revolving around the Earth. Nowdays is easy (compared to those days) to go to space and see with your own eyes that the Earth is round.

I agree that mathematics are all made up. But I still think that science can prove things. At least with those so-called "mathematics" we've been able as humans to create a lot of technology.
