    Mod parent up. What the hell is wrong with a community that instantly rejects any suggestion of racism- mostly, I suspect, without actually reading the evidence presented? Have an open mind; maybe the people interviewed have something interesting to say.

    But the text on that website is extremely unprofessional; it reads more like a rant than an open letter to Ballmer. Grammatical mistakes abound, as does use of slang. I'm all for the idea, but it has to be pursued in a manner such that there is some chance of Microsoft responding.

    What the hell are you talking about? Are you seriously suggesting that history, philosophy, literature, languages and art are "not academic?" That kind of lack of respect for other fields than your own (although with that kind of attitude I seriously doubt you're actually a scientist) is what separates science from other disciplines and leads to the public's distrust of science.

    I'll put in a vote for jEdit. It's a nice GUI editor (with some of the features of an IDE) that is amazingly customizable and lets me code the way I want to.

    What, exactly, is your point? The police are supposed to be protecting you by investigating crime and arresting suspects. Laws don;t exist in a vacuum; they are designed (or they should be) to protect you.

    Okay, someone has to say it.

    I checked out the source of the article (just like the guy says to) and it is, in fact, pretty damn bad. The tag is used a lot (rather a big no-no now) and, furthermore, all of the tags are in uppercase. I realize that the latter problem is easy to rectify, but nobody should be using uppercase tags anymore.
