While possibly unfair, that would be VERY interesting to see.
We already have.
Well, it can be. If they're trying to capture users who think about their browser choice already, well, most of those people already ditched Netscape for Opera or something else.
However, Microsoftcould put IE on the Windows desktop and get a lot of oblivious Netscape users to take notice.
In the US, on T-Mobile (best US carrier IMHO), I get: "myFaves 300": $40.00, which includes: 300 minutes, unlimited N/W starting at 7PM Unlimited whatever to your "Fave 5" US-wide long distance Caller ID Unlimited to other T-Mobile customers (a lot around here) Voicemail* (if there's a limit, I haven't hit it) BlackBerry Unlimited: $20/mo, all-you-can-eat data, email, IM, and tethering. Total: $60/mo, ~$5 in taxes/etc.
"Dumb" phones have the option for a $6/mo data plan that only includes email and web browsing (also unlimited, but port blocking is in effect), and those phones also bill IMs alongside SMS/MMS (unlimited 15/mo, 1000 for 10/mo, or.15/per, both ways). The non-BB "Total Internet" plan (also $20/mo) for other smartphones also includes access to T-Mobile's Wi-Fi hotspots.
*I've replaced the T-Mobile voicemail with YouMail, a free visual voicemail service. Highly reccomended, US only so far.
No, they're basing the cut on how data-heavy your app is, not the number of people using it. So, T-Mobile would take a smaller cut from GTalk, and a bigger cut from SlingPlayer. The number of users is irrelevant. Also, all of T-Mobile's data plans (from the $6 tZones to the $20 BIS and "Total Internet") are unlimited. If you don't have a data plan, then it is by usage.
Native hardware support. You can't use specialized hardware (like tuner cards, but there are others). In particular, you can't use 3D acceleration at all unless you fork over for VMWare, and at that it's nowhere near perfect.
If I've read TFS correctly, it means that the patent has to be for a specific machine. So, no to collecting royalties on SFAC* for DAPs, but yes for patenting SFAC as used within my company's audio system.

The VoIP modem from the cableco has a battery backup that's supposed to run for at least 2 hours.

HERE IS A TIP TO GET FREE VOICEMAIL/SPARK 10/CALLER ID:
You mean voicemail and CID isn't included by default? Fuck, you Canadians are getting shafted even more than I thought.
Opera Mobile is very usable. Your other points are (IMHO) very valid though. iPhone vs. BlackBerry would be a better comparison.
get myself a copy of the XO laptop
How do you get your copies to work? Mine always come out flat, flimsy, and don't work.
Yes. They still hold the copyright, they can do whatever they damn well please with the code, which they still own.

Geek card. Now. Hand it over.
It's dream as in "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep". Best guess, anyway.
This is the internet. Someone will invariably link goatse.

Wrong. http://www.microsoft.com/express/product/default.aspx
It seems they've been having problems shipping them out. I noticed around a month delay before the Linux version showed up on NewEgg.
Complain about the no-fly list on national television.

I think you failed to read the summary. Scrabulous was pulled from facebook, not because of technical problems, but because Hasbro sent them a C&D.
Facebook blocked access to Scrabulous from Facebook within the USA and Canada. It still works elsewhere, and from scrabulous.com
So what, their Death Star gets in the way too often?

*Super Fancy Audio Codec
I'm going to patent the process of different people posting the same thing repeatedly. I could make billions from Slashdot and Fark alone.
Yes, GMM supports clicking the number to dial, which is what I was trying to say.
PS: The BlackBerry GMM also does voice search and transit routes :)
