thank christ for NPR.. its so funny scanning through your radio stations and hearing the same typical Clear Channel Broadcasting default radio stations, then all of a sudden you stop on an NPR station.. the programming is absolutely great.. "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me" is probably one of the most hilarious radio gameshows i've ever heard.. Terry Gross with her Fresh Air show is always intriguing and so is her guests..
i never am able to donate tons of money to these stations, but I would if I could thats for sure.. I still manage to give them atleast $10-20 every time they have a pledge drive.. thats definitely not much to ask for.. its a public service.. everyone has the opportunity to listen to great radio for free instead of their minds be washed away from those incredibly shitty playlists that repeat over and over again throughout the day that you hear on Clear Channel stations..
its the way radio should be.. entertaining and educational.. the two most important factors that almost all non-public TV and Radio lack almost completely..
wow.. i thought i was misreading my google personalized homepage when i saw that headline.. very stupid indeed, considering millions already have openoffice downloaded to their computer.. not to mention, tons of people that can manipulate and understand the code well enough to continue to make it better..
he might as well buy all of Earth while he's at it.. because there's always going to be something or someone that "cuts in to his profits" simply because they want the majority of people, especially poor people, to actually use software.. GOOD JOB BILL!! Yes, PLEASE DON'T LET THOSE DISGUSTING POOR PEOPLE USE YOUR SOFTWARE!! GEESH!! WHAT HAVE WE BEEN THINKING ALL THESE YEARS?!?! THEY DON'T DESERVE TO USE A COMPUTER!!! BECAUSE THEY'RE CUTTING IN TO YOUR PROFITS!!
dude.. don't be a flamebait.. its quite simple.. what if walmart started selling Macs?? I bet the uppidity nerds wouldn't even buy them anymore.. the quality would get lower because walmart keeps demanding lower prices from their manufacturers.. advertisement or no advertisement, Walmart has the money to do whatever the hell they want.. even build in an area where the people don't even want a walmart..
although, Walmart can be helpful.. It always reminds people that they can do MUCH better in life hahaha.. Its a constant reminder if you ask me..
i've always found it quite interesting when some people criticize another's writing as SPECTACULAR and others say its the most horrible thing they've ever read.. the man was simply comparing the 3 operating systems with what he has experienced, and it writing about it.. He's not telling you the way of the world, and how if you don't listen to what he says, than you're stupid.. If thats what you got out of this article, than you obviously don't get much reading done in your spare time..
i think he wrote a fine comparison.. people are simply getting pissed because they're either a MS Fanboy, or a Mac Fanboy.. who fuckin cares?? they both suck complete balls in my opinion.. but i'm not telling you who to run your life, and neither is this dude..
wait.. lemme get this straight.. all this time i was supposed to be paying for windows?? i forgot that only the elite few with money are allowed to have the luxury of computing..
most people have computers that come with Windows XP already installed on it.. therefore, its their legal copy.. which is why their computer costed $100-200 more than it should.. i believe you haven't used Linux yourself to even base your comparison.. because if you did, you'd realize that nearly all devices are automatically detected without you even knowing it.. and they work perfectly fine.. the more people start to use Linux, then the more Hardware Manufacturers start to actually develop drivers for the Linux operating system.. You do realize that every day people with REAL jobs other than programming open source software, make most of the drivers we use in Linux today right? give 'em a break.. Thanks to great companies like NVIDIA we have Manufacturer developed drivers that make using any hardware a sinch.. its quite easy when the right people are willing to play the game.. i understand where you're coming from, but I think you should take your own advice.. i paid $200 for my copy of XP Pro, just so I could use the Adobe Creative Suite which was another $500.00.. if Adobe just made their software for Linux, I wouldn't be complaining so much that I'm out $500 since my OS was free.. but who knows if that'll ever happen.. I really recommend using Ubuntu for your comparison.. things have come a very long way..
i just searched for her for the first time.. jesus christ i don't think i've ever seen a more flawlessly beautiful woman.. hot damn they sure can pick 'em!!
i hear ya dude.. my house actually has DSL.. however, when I go to the office in the middle of Bum Fuck, we have NOTHING.. i can see people across the highway that can get cable internet access!! But Comcast wants us to pay them $5,000 so they can dig under ground and lay cables to our little warehouse on the other side of the street.. the phone lines here are also very shoddy.. so shoddy, "ISDN-Anywhere!" isn't even available here.. We can get satellite but when I told my bosses how much it would cost in comparison to cable or DSL, they just laughed at me.. so for the past 4 years, as an ebay powerselling business, we've been on dialup.. listing just about 500 auctions a week, and keeping an Ebay Store inventory of around 700+ items all the time.. it sucks so bad when I have to submit all my listings in bulk, then upload the images for those items.. there's aboslutely nothing we can do here..
you're aboslutely right.. its all Clear Channel Broadcasting Co.. full of shit man.. not only is their programming horrible, but you're right, all the little guys are trying to compete with Clear Channel.. equally making some of local guys horrible.. haha.. thank god there's NPR..
how often do you coders send your code in the body of an email message?? i mean, are CVS's, RDS's and hell, even throwing your shit in a zip file that outdated already??
well thats all fine and dandy.. but it still costs money.. too much money at that.. its a "MUST" upgrade because you won't be able to do anything with XP anymore.. the one things i've always liked about Linux, besides the fact that its free, is that I can run an application that was programmed years ago.. someone down below said it best.. it seems like the open source operating systems are progressing even more and more as the years go by.. why try to convince a massive amount of users to upgrade to Windows Vista, spend another $200+, and all they do is use the WWW, Email, Word Processing if even, and other basic tasks?? hell, my linux box my complete multimedia center.. it didn't cost anything.. and i'm a freakin retard!! and it actually works!! c'mon.. no brainer..
hahaha sweet.. i had a friend that worked at our local radioshack.. needless to say, I spent a lot of time there just because who doesn't want to be surrounded by gadjets and computers? especially when our radioshack was the first location in a 45 mile radius to get broadband internet.. it was neat to witness for the first time..
they definitely have an interesting past.. i see them trying to become more like stores such as Best Buy.. it'd be nice to see them make a comeback in some other way.. i bet its hard being a reseller of products like digital cameras, pdas, cell phones, when there's so many other places that do it.. we'll see what happens i guess
haha this is so retarded.. every author has a source of influence.. I'm sure the authors of those books had influences too.. its not like their predecessors are suing them.. plus the Da Vinci Code is fictional.. jesus christ.. Dan Brown is NOT claiming that HE discovered the theory about Mary Magdelene.. so why the hell are these people pissed?? they're good books.. all of them.. they all serve different purposes.. whether you need reference, or a novel.. if anything, these fuckers should be HAPPY that their theories have been promoted on such a high level.. that kind of product placement has already paid for the lawsuit..
For those kids, there's no doubt in my mind Ubuntu would be ideal.. I mean what do they really need?? Word Processing?? Access to the Internet?? Not to mention educational games?? Well the price is right.. I personally think, for that given situation, its perfectly worthless to have Windows of any kind on those machines when there is a great free solution.. I personally think there is a great future in Linux.. And in my opinion, you don't even need to teach them Windows.. There's hardly anyone that uses Linux in the first place in comparison to the people that use Windows.. so why not breed Super Mutant Space Monsters and make the fluent in Linux? but really, if you're on a budget, why not make a statement, and use Linux.. It will influence other people too.
cool, thanks for the informative post.. after your first comment, i tried researching a bit.. i emailed radioshack asking what the last tandy was.. they gave me a model number, but didn't tell me what processor it had.. thanks again
its really not.. its "inconsistent".. thats the point of my post.. You could have GREAT sales one month, and then be completely dead the next.. its a solution in retrospect that you get promotion and coverage, but its still lacking something.. very rarely, when you have a live auction, do items not get bids on them.. i post 100 auctions a day, and only 20 if even that, sell every day.. i almost pay more ebay fees than the profit i make from each item.. i keep going though, because some days, the right person just so happens to be browsing through ebay, and something catches his eye.. however, its not smart business to just rely on "chance"..
hey mod, thats what these things are for.. you read other people's opinions.. especially when it makes sense and you're just a wussy fan boy.. hope your ipod's battery dies..
i never am able to donate tons of money to these stations, but I would if I could thats for sure.. yours was bleeped?? mine's full-on uncensored.. then again, i downloaded it before it was released in the us.. where'd ya buy it??
DAMNIT 3 freakin hours later i realize the whole slashdot page is an april fools joke..

hmm.. nope.. sorry.. thats definitely not worth $2,100.00
the man was simply comparing the 3 operating systems with what he has experienced, and IS writing about it..
but i'm not telling you HOW to run your life
i think he wrote a fine comparison.. people are simply getting pissed because they're either a MS Fanboy, or a Mac Fanboy.. who fuckin cares?? they both suck complete balls in my opinion.. but i'm not telling you who to run your life, and neither is this dude..

what do you do if you just need to type with one hand?? heh
He's just mad that hisOS costs twice as much as an entire computer

warning, not suitable for office environments.. unless your home office.. god damn she's incredible.. ehehehehe
