somebody needs to smash ebay thats for sure.. its a wonderful thing, but they've been screwing their customers for far too long.. prices have increased, making it nearly impossible to make a profit.. I sell historical documents, and business has been gradually decreasing over the past 4 years.. Autographs in particular, you could buy a autographed photos from hollywood actors at real auctions for anywhere between $100-$5,000... The same photo you bought for $100, could be found on ebay for $10... and why is that?? Because the seller's need to drop their prices that low, because they think nobody's buying their stuff.. When in actuality, Ebay is very very very inconsistent when it comes to sales.. If you get a nice Marlon Brando signed photo, and you post it up for auction on Ebay, how do you expect every die-hard Marlon Brando fan to be on Ebay at that particular point in time?? They won't be.. And thats the problem..
in my personal opinion, Ebay has ruined the excitement from real live auctions.. but Google on the other hand.. I have a feeling that one day, Google will be one of the first things all people do in the morning.. like checking your email or the news.. a daily process.. And what if they started doing auctions?? Well just imagine having Google Alerts for auctions.. You could have a message in your Inbox saying, "Hey, some guy just put up a Marlon Brando signed photograph.. Click here to BID now".. and my problem would be solved...
iTunes is pretty horrible if you ask me.. i especially hate it when i'm just trying to install Quicktime, and it comes with this crap.. I don't fucking want it you bastards.. yet another trend these people follow.. just like everyone that buys an iPod to begin with.. yea its nice to have a portable mp3 player.. but its TRENDY to spend $250+ on one every couple months because they come out with a new one.. they come out with these damn video playing ipods.. yet they still don't have a simple FM tuner.. people say that's obsolete too.. but i can almost bet, when you're iPod becomes obsolete, that there will STILL be millions of people listening to FM radio.. it won't be obsolete for a long freakin' time I can guarantee it.. I like have the ability to listen to mp3s, and tune in to the radio if i want.. and no I'm not buying a $5 portable radio.. whats the point?? carry around two devices?? apple's got you all by your trendy balls.. OooOOOO BiG BroTHer Man!!
wow what an absurd idea.. i can only imagine how many of those laptops will break.. and how much money the school will spend to fix them.. most college's dish out a nice size budget for the IT department.. yet nobody manages the money properly.. why get the most expensive solution just because you can?? why not save the money and properly invest in a better exchange and enrollment system?? i've seen huge problems in programs likw WebCT and many students would agree that it needs some improvement..
or you could just wait till the $100 laptop starts to retail for like $200+ or whatever they quoted a few months ago.. other than that, its a huge waste.. more trouble than you're bargaining for..
what about all the people that just build the servers themselves for like $500 and install Linux on it?? i don't think they tallied that in their stats.. because there's quite a few people that do that.. not to mention, Win2k3 costs atleast a thousand bucks.. of course the sales are going to show that there were more windows servers installed.. most good sys and net admins build their own servers..
well, i'm not totally sure, but i distinctly remember the Tandy Pentium 60, with speakers built on the side and everything.. surprisingly, i've looked everywhere on google, and cannot get a full list of every tandy computer ever made.. but until then, i will have to disagree with you simply since I can remember seeing the ad..
no.. its called Inductive Reasoning.. I've used every fuckin distro I could get my hands on since 1996.. its quite simple, in my personal opinion, in which an Anonymous Coward has no real right to question in the first place, Ubuntu is the best distro I've used.. and thats why i commented in the first place.. i'm sorry if your p100 can't run ubuntu.. ya gotta upgrade sometime.. You can't expect a great Linux Distro, with all the features of Ubuntu with Gnome, to run good on any system.. its plain and simple.. today's standards, today's equipment, bottom line, Ubuntu runs the greatest.. IMO..
We've got questions, and apparently,

RadioShack CEO Resigns

you've got the answers... simply because any computer related question I ever asked someone from Radioshack, never was answered.. of course this was atleast 10+ and you could still purchase the rare, yet available, Tandy Pentium 60mhz..
i also really think Radioshack has let themselves go downhill.. for example, selling $60 Monster cables instead having the generic versions for like $5.00.. they have some of the cheap ones, but not all.. and also, what happened to all the cool breadboard shit they used to have?? capacitors, chips, boards, all that cool shit?? wish they would of kept up with that kind of shit.. release newer things.. Its pretty simple really.. They took the geek factor out of RadioShack.. once the average geek can no longer ride his bike down to his nearest radioshack for a computer part, the radioshack starts doing poor business.. stop trying to sell crappy computers and monster cables!! bring the breadboards back too! haha
bullshit.. what are you running a pIII or something? try using a gig of ram and a p4 atleast.. it runs fuckin fantastic.. whoever doesn't see that is obviously either:
I must admit.. For years I used KDE.. I thought it was much more superior than Gnome.. And plus, who really liked that little Foot for a menu anyway??
But I can honestly say, that thanks to Ubuntu, they've sparked my love for Gnome again.. Its so freakin fast.. The Look and Feel is very appealing to my eyes and mouse.. the programs keep getting better and better.. tons of customization.. and its from our good ol' pals from GNU.. I'm very glad to witness the progression of Gnome.. they're doin' a hell of a job.. I noticed someone who was confused by the default positioning of the taskbar and menu.. Obviously, you can change it to whatever you want.. He said something about how he thought it was stupid to have two bars.. Well maybe, some of us are tired of just having one.. take your Windows style start menu, and shove it up your pretentious ass.
i'm personally just tired of emo kids.. the Myspace trend, just like New Wave and Hair Metal, will die out, and we'll look back and laugh at all the idiots showing off their stupid haircuts, and the guys that wear women's jeans with white studded belts..
I also think Myspace is like a Lazy Man's Blog.. creeps rather check out how their lady friends are "looking" instead of reading about how they're "doing".. just another source of anonymity for stalkers.. screw SpySpace..
I'm really getting tired of hearing people breaking their ties with Google because of this whole stupid thing.. You're not getting the picture at all..
the ONLY reason was able to develop such a strong motto in the first place, is because of the good ol', capitalistic, United States of America..
obviously, if a COMMUNIST Country such as China, requires Google to play by different rules, then Google will have to do so.. Its not like Google planned on this happening.. Actually, thanks to China's money, and Google's cooperation, Google will CONTINUE to develop AMAZING software that constantly innovates how we operate here on the intenet.. and WE, as people outside of China, will benefit greatly if Google plays by some simple rules..
if the people of China want something changed about how their government works, then they're going to need to take a stand.. But why the hell boycott Google because of the way China runs their government?? you've gotta be outta your mind.. they've been loyal to you, yet you shit on them about a country you don't even live in..
the answer to this question is always dependant on wether or not you'll like the new job moreso than the one you currently have.. i'm ready to be a bit more drastic with my fields of interest even if it involves a paycut.. i've been working professionally in the IT world for a good 8+ years so far.. From parallel computing plants, to the world's rated #1 amatuer porn site.. now i'm stuck at this crappy office now.. my jobs have become less interesting over the years..
i think shifting towards other areas of interest is essential for people like myself, just because it'll keep me sane.. sitting in an office, hurts my tailbone, keeps me inactive physically, and makes me bored out of my mind.. Not to mention, it hurts my passion for computers so that when I get home, I don't even want to look at my computer..
its important to get out of serious debt so that you can have the freedom to choose basically any kind of job that you want, and have fun with it.. as long as I can get health benefits, I'll take a paycut.. grocery stores give people health benefits.. i wouldn't mind being a baker;-) then i could finally bare making computers my hobby again..
i think the little ear phones are to be the blame.. those things fuckin HURT.. ya gotta shove 'em in your ears just so they stay in place.. and they suck anyway.. use the kind that clip over your ear, and cover a good portion of the circumference of your ear.. they seem to sound the best.. and they don't hurt.. as much as I hate iPods, I still think suing them over something a person should have good common sense not to do, is very ridiculous..
such great news.. despite the people with sand in their vaginas about Google and Linux, this is going to most excellent.. much like everything else Google has done in the past.. i've been waiting a while for Google to develope something other than apps and web apps.. it'll give us a clear understanding on what google is really capable of..
another thing to take in to consideration, are companies like Adobe.. now that they see a huge name like Google, developing their own flavor of Linux, will other software giants start developing brandname software for Linux?? Because if I can run the Adobe CS on my Linux box, you can kiss anything microsoft related goodbye..
I highly disagree with that.. We're aware what Google's vision/motto is.. And thanks to "AMERICA" they're able to fulfill that vision.. Living in a free country, with a free market, and a capitalistic system is what has given Google the ability to offer what they do.. so, obviously, their vision is altered when they choose to involve themselves with a country like China, which is the exact opposite and far as what business are allowed to do.. it doesn't make them sellouts..
my comment is a bit idealogical, so I'm certain a few of you will disagree with me.. despite the rumors about disney, and their increasing unpopularity over the past few years, think about when you were growing up as a kid.. some of those classic animated movies were absolutely incredible, and the magic of it all would leave you awe-struck.. this to me proves that they're still trying to bring the magic back.. providing us with fictional, and morally sound stories for entertainment and learning purposes, is something I think disney has done very well in the past..
i've never been a Apple fan.. i pretty much despise Macs and iPods, however, I will give Steve Jobs credit.. i appreciate his vision and perspective on the computing market.. he has helped push the standards of computing to the limit, and has forced companies to progress with their technology and art.. due to his extreme influence in the computer world, I can only imagine what great ideas he'll think of for Disney.. i really think he'll revive them, and bring the magic back..
amen brother.. god damn sheep kid bastards

every person in charge that says, "if you're not doing anything wrong, then don't worry about it", is usually doing something wrong...
HAHAHAHA :-D great run-down of those little fuckin bastards...

it kind of reminds me when Fry from Futurama gets worms and it enhances just about everything in his body..
its definitely like chatting while at work.. hell, if it wasn't for #Linux and #Linuxhelp, I'd have no job to begin with..
