    The hypocrisy in US in unbelievable. Violence and killing people is all okay in TV, but when it's teaching persons about natural human function like sex it's all bad and must be hidden. Even while I live in Europe and sexuality is quite okayish here, my parents never taught anything about it. I learned it from school and from friends. And let me say this, what they taught in school was probably a lot more responsible than what my friends told me.

    Dude, dude, dude you have it entirely wrong. If there was a well thought out and comprehensive sexual education curriculum, then dumb girls wouldn't believe that semen had a lot of protein in it and helps you lose weight.

    Everybody seems to dislike Americans now, just imagine how riled up and war mongering we'd be without the "2 minute diet".

    HoN is a great game if you want to learn racial slurs in new languages. It's good fun if you can play with friends until you get up to speed. Although, if you have friends that are the "controller thrower" archtype maybe pass on inviting them. It's as addictive as crack. You get pissed off at the game and the community and uninstall it, and find yourself needing a fix a week later...

    IMO a great comparison is Meteorology. Earth weather patterns are incredibly complex. Meteorologists make predictions about what patterns will likely develop, but there are simply too many variables to be perfectly precise.

    I worked in a weather office. The prediction method involved roulette.

    I'm pretty sure different people think different anyway, some are fine with multi-tasking, others not so, I'd imagine those crap at multi-tasking will struggle with taking notes at the same time as listening regardless of what method they use, whilst those great at it, will likely be able to play an FPS or whatever and still take in what the professor is saying.

    People are pretty generally crap at multitasking. (I think there was an article not to long ago on it here.) There are people who like to tell themselves they can multitask and people who realize they need to focus.

    Cool. I saw flywheel and immediately thought KERS but didn't know what F1 team would give Porsche anything.

    Then you should be happy about these body scanners... they sure make the process much more swift, and you don't need to worry about being randomly selected for a lengthy pat-down when you're already running late for your flight. Terrorists do exist, and sure you can say "they won" because of what airport security is turning into, but guess what... they'd win even more if airport security wasn't this strict.

I know that they were one frame and no continuity, but they were also miles off in terms of writing, observation, illustration and funniness. It's like comparing a one-liner to a poem, perhaps it's even unfair to compare. But IMHO, if they were Slashdot posts and I had 4 mod points, Far Side would be Interesting but Overrated. C&H would be Insightful and Funny

    Has anyone ever heard of Terminal Velocity? The record for a human is around half Mach and that takes skill to achieve not just height.

    Terminal velocity is dependent on drag which is dependent on density. The terminal velocity at high altitude is much higher than at low.

    The the speed of sound is temperate dependent as well. It is lower at altitude that at sea level. It is about 760 mph at sea level and 675 at 100k ft.
