So if this goes into work FedEx will start to be responsible by all the content transmited by them. In my point of view this is similar to the Internet carrier. You're not responsible by the transmitted content since you're not allowed to check what's inside of it. If they really start this way they must be held responsible by all nasty contents like child pornography and so on.
next: Dogs to sniff content data for child pornography
Hum, while i might agree with that, i would prefer to see him teaching children and student's to not use Guns, Drugs and help the Poor People. The first one might destroy a company (actually, little to no warm occurs anyway), while the second could save more human lifes. I guess money counts more in the end of the day when your favorite politician has to do a choice on who's going to support is campain...
actually, you could stop most of the phisying stuff. If most of these companies had some web page where you could login some random generated data to feed into the phishers web page then they could use it to track this false user data with some web IP. This way banks and other companies could create fake accounts after a user request in order to track this actions.
Combine this with some strong court measures and you probably would stop most of the phising stuff. I ALWAYS do this every time i recieve a phising email (and make sure i do not use any link directly from my email account) so companies can track these if they will to do so.
But since most of the companies don't take these actions seriously they probably don't care about my warn emails. Anyway, the only think that stop's them from getting a final STOP in these questions is the lake of will...
so it's start to be a good seasons for lawyers to pick up new action class lawsuit...
I can't wait until i finish my studies, so much AOL money waiting for me....
And don't forget Minix in 1987 by Andy Tanenbaum. While free software was not so well know on those ages there where alredy some major software for free
Who can afford to do professional work for nothing? What hobbyist can put 3-man years into programming, finding all bugs, documenting his product and distribute for free? The fact is, no one besides us has invested a lot of money in hobby software.
Mostly BSD, Linux, Minix, FreeDos and a lot of open-source programs. Perhaps people are now in debt with unkle Bill and develop this for free since they have still BASIC in the 70's. Or perhaps BASIC was (has the name say) just to BASIC for people to perform some thing more complex then "Hello World!!!"
So that lake of money to develop professional software may explain the crappy stuff made by microsoft in the 80's... We now should expect given these words that OS like XP and Vista should be professional, good-looking and well documented (no hidden API)...
actaully it's the opposite. Why should i use AOL when i got better alternatives?
Unless i have to do business with people on AOL, but then i thnk people will start to charge this extra fee on the service anyway, so those AOL user's will always pay for it...
The prosecutor noted that the statute defines "child sexually abusive material" as including any reproduction, copy, or print of a photograph depicting a child engaged in a sexual act.
let me get this in other way. Did he said COPY? Then the simple fact of downloading is ALREADY a crime. And if not, then if you copy the content to other directory location is also a "produced" version since we actually move data in the hard drive. Unless you copy creating a simbolic link i don't see how this (cd-r burning) is so different from copying files from one place in the disk to another.
So why they differentiate this from regular download?
Not a feature at all ... It's even more weird

This is not necessarly true. I have an account f.myname@gmail.com and because someone registered fmyname@gmail.com (which appens to be a guy from my family) and i don't recieve his email and he dosent receives mine. Somehow the server must recognize this as different accounts so the fuzzy match only takes place if the names is not associated with some account first. And yes, our address where registered almost on the beginning of Gmail...

yes it's truth. We copy the very best of you guys in US. Unfortunatly, some politics agenda forced us to accept the crapiest global and economical politics made by US like the genetically modified food and the steel incoming taxes not to mention other nasty stuff like US pressure to adopt the US patent system which would introduce software patents something which is still not usual to us, and thus companies like Microsoft had tried hard to buy some politics.
Unfortunatly, these kind of news don't show up in the CNN...
Yes it's truth. And there's a single reason for that: NT server performance with the UI being managed in the kernel just sucked. If all you want is a server why should you care to spend a CPU on a UI that is not being used 99.9% of the time?
Yet another reason to give credit for the Minix micro-kernel concept and all the good Unix design. Nobody expects a commercial server Unix to carry the UI inside the kernel. They could have taken a better approach with the remaining Windows products but Microsoft seems to like "Do-It the Hard Way" and "Create Inovation from Copying" philosophy.
So next thing will be RIAA to sue everybody that criticises any musician on unauthorized blog, since this can be considered negative publicity and thus they will not sell another extra million copies of some crapy artist.
Now imagine the reviewers on any site given a 8/10 because they are afraid of getting sued by giving a lowe rate. And yes, forget to post the artist name on any blog. It is illegal also as the name usage is unauthorized...
you're funny but it might be trought. Imagine that conservatories now must pay RIAA for the right to teach children to play electric guitar. With all the scores protected by IP laws you can't teach people to play metal, blues and rock.
Lucky for us that at least lots of music has been produced in the past and has been falling in the public domain.
Perhaps this will be the dead of POP and ROCK and all sort of teenager music groups as there will be no more musicians capable of playing an electric guitar.
wait here. Malaria diseas can be easily cured using quinino a natural substance which occurs on tropical florest. If this marvelous drug had solid patents on it people suffering from malaria couldn't be cured for free. But i give you a stronger example.
If Alexander Flemming in 1928 had patented the first antibiotic most soldiers in second world war would die from large infections. People wouldn't be able to treat simple infections with lower costs. Nothing stops a company to use a natural drug and refine if further. Today antibiotics are surelly different from the first ones. And we do not use the original drug any more. So think about it. Why can't any company to study a natural product and improve it further? Then YES, you should patent your newly product, not the natural one.
And here everybody beneffits from this public knoledge. If today labs had to pay for an antibiotic license you would't have such large drug variety. Has most people should know with the increasing usage of antibiotics most affected micro-organims tend to develope some resistance and create a new infectious form. I doubt the labs would invest money in creating new antibiotics forms if they had to license it first.
Sure, with recent news of Asian contries to adopt Linux as the Major OS no wonder they invest all this money here, otherwise they will surely loose a emerging market. Now talking about world domination...
so interesting i wanna studie the flu virus effect on it. Perhaps now Symantec and Norton may patent white globs Anti-Virus ADN programs. I find it interesting but dangerous too...
Sure nice thing. Does this support data in open formats or does it run only in Autodesk format?
As long as the foundation in charge does not allow new trully open formats we can't consider this a trully open source project
Are these people on drugs?
Seriously, the only reason to set up a base in the moon is to achieve faster planetary control and not the other way around. I mean, are aliens so retarded to not get any decent weapon to destroy a base in the moon in a single strike? If we can land a probe in an asteroid i guess they can shoot several "missiles" from Jupiter to hit the Moon.
So seriously, only if physics come up with some sort of shield this can be effective. If Bush is going on with this, we are going to see a second Cold War and this time with China.
So i gonna sugest them to take some Mushrooms and some acids to travel into Neptune and make peace with the aliens for all mankind safety...
Peace
