    So he says they're going after the "cheap" arcade machine providers. After you snuff them out, why not go after the "free" arcade providers?

    From the last paragraph:

    How does this statement NOT include MAME itself?

    Are they related in any way to these guys that released a 64kb demo in 2000 called .the .product?

    I love 64kb demos. Sure it might not make the best games, but it means they are looking at all aspects of the code. Now if other programers for all apps would be that meticulous.

    Why is the first reaction from the people that can do something about security holes always "We can't let this information get out!" instead of "Oh, so that's what we need to fix next."?

    Do they go to these security seminars and breifings to get "warm fuzzies" and pats on the back and when someone exposes a chink in the armor they are now a threat to National Security?!?

    Perhaps they don't WANT to go through the trouble to fix it? Don't have the MONEY to fix it? Simply don't know HOW to fix it?

    "Well, the problem is that AV tools are only good at preventing a problem from reaching you if you know about it before it reaches you. It doesn't prevent the problem. They help in clean up but after you've been hit."

    Which is easier? Patching an OS or updating virus definition files? If MS builds an AV capability into their products, they'll never have to "fix" them again. Just update the defs to catch the 'sploit and move on!

    I don't think this is his arguement for a "compulsory license." The fee is for the rights holders, not the ISPs.

    I can see how ISPs would be against this. Filesharing and bandwidth use would go out the window, at least for a time. How many more P2P users would we have if everyone knew everything they download is 100% leagal? How many more broadband subscribers?

    In a unique idea from my employer, they're renting out a local movie theatre at 12:01am on Dec. 18th. That's right! They're paying for all of us to see LOTR: The Two Towers before anyone else. I'd prefer a bonus, but this is going to be pretty cool.

    It'll be interesting to see who shows up for work after the movie ends at 3am. :-P

    I not sure if it fits in as "gratuitous violence" (I haven't seen the whole film.), but Total Recall got the award for Visual FX. In fact, they were the only act in town that year and they didn't even have nominees. They just came out and said Total Recall was so good, we're just going to give the Oscar to them.
