  1. Re:Is this even legal? on D&D 4th Ed vs. Open Gaming · · Score: 1

What about prestige classes? There seemed to be much less emphasis on creativity in manipulating your character to what you wanted to be. To many people just picked a prestige class and took stills, not to fit their personality or style of fighting, but only because they were prerequisites for the prestige class.

Also what about social combat, is there anything added for that. That always seemed lacking in D&D in general, however it's a 1/3 of Exalted's attributes (Physical, Social, Mental). Charisma alone is too general.

Actually, if you price a Mac Pro vs. a similarly spec'd workstation from Dell, the Apple frequently comes in a few dollars cheaper. That's not really saying much to me as I don't buy anything from Dell. I build my own PCs and cut out the middleman markups.

Apple really does not have a high margin on base Mac Pros, ie without the ridiculous memory upgrade costs. Considering I've spec'd out comparable systems with parts from Newegg and Frys that cost anywhere from 50% to 66% the Mac Pro, I'd say they have a pretty hefty margin. It's sad that a year ago I made the same argument and it got labeled flame bait. Where you have a Score:3 Informative. I wonder what changed...

  14. Switching from Windows on Windows Vista Annoyances · · Score: 1

My friend is going for an MLA and considering getting a laptop she can tote around with her. We talked about the possibility of her getting a Mac. When it came down to it she'd have to pay twice as much and wouldn't get much benefit out of it. Macbooks start at $1099, hardware-comparable Vista machine $550. Additionally her school will be running Windows. She's not too computer savy and wouldn't be using it for much more than papers, spreadsheets, and the internet. These things she could easily do, despite the bloat, on Vista. It seems the only benefit she'd get out of it is knowing she didn't support Vista. Does anyone else have any other suggestions to tilt the scales in this debate?

Not sure how to fix this divergence. Difficulty levels. Each difficulty level could have: Higher/lower health levels, more/less healing agents, more/less enemies on the screen at a time, more/less ammo, harder/easier puzzles etc. Sure some of those are the X you were talking about, but if you actually made a different playing experiences, like with the harder puzzles, then it'd be worth it not only to play on hard/insane and beat it for the challenge, but to play it on easy/medium to get to see different puzzles.
