the same type of person who can spend 6-8k on a sound system and listen to it. it's really not a lot if u want it. some people have enough money where 8k won't make a dent. others shift around their priorities. ever seen bmws parked in the projects? most people either don't have the money to waste, or the desire though.
to me, the subscription is more like the hbo on demand time warner offers. i pay a flat fee, watch as much as i want when i want. but soon as i stop paying my bill, bye bye. btw, i believe most of the subscription services also let you buy a song that won't expire. though it is still DRMed. I would be ok with subscription services if once i bought the song, all restictions were lifted on it. basically, going back to my hbo analogy, making it like buying the dvd of the season.
it's still a restriction that they reserve the right to change. sure, the apple chains are longer, but i'de rather not be chained at all. this is simply chosing which chains i would prefer to be shackled by. if noone bought a single drmed song, drm would go away.
some of the other uses you cited are heavily advertized products on MTV. so maybe the name isn't so dumb after all. they can even have a premium account called "X-treme Urge". there are a lot of stupid things that just get lapped up by the targetted demographics. btw, is that the best we can do? "your name is stupid"
how different is this from the sony glasstron from a few year's ago? seems worse, only one eye. i guess as long as you plug it into an ipod, it's cool again.

TFA keeps talking about vulnerabilities and flaws interchangabily. a flaw doesn't mean a vulnerability. although i believe updates should be included in the tally, the tally is trivial. few of the unix/linux flaws make your computer vulnerable compared to the windows ones. that is more a design issue though.
that's funny, cuz girls always ask me how big a hard drive i have. they even ask to see it. i'm thinking about letting it just hang out to show off. they don't call me quantum bigfoot for nothing.
it's not the $4000, they can't afford to lose any cases. if they did, it would cause future defendants to stand up for their rights and not just be bullied into settling. their costs would skyrocket if each case was actually contested. right now it's a double bonus; they get thousands of $s out of ppl and scare a lot of ppl from downloading music.
i've never had a problem taking the intel stickers off of my notebooks or computers. i have a habit of peeling all the stickers off, serial #s too (email them it to two of of my email addresses). goo-gone is my friend:)
so you are saying the new logo will be "nothing to see here, please move along"? or maybe they will keep and say "intel inside, because terrorists outside".
precisely. i have a pair of etys and i can listen to music on the subway with the volume set well below the max. i'm sure most people turn it up until they only hear the music. the high isolation of the etys lets you do so with less volume. it's kind of like putting dynamat in your car to cut down on outside noise. doing so makes your system seem louder because it's not competing with outside noise.
i would argue that planes probably have louder speakers because a lot of passengers have their headphones on and would otherwise miss the announcement (i know i do). as for movie theatres, movies have much more audio than in the past. you've got multi-channel surround and subwoofers. and the sound effects they can put in are more intense, and come across better thanx to digital.
i recently had the left earbud go quiet on me (needed to change the filter cause some water got in). i found my self compensating by raising the volume much higher than i normally would to hear the music on the train. perhaps this over-compensation was what caused the damage to your right ear. i don't think buds cause any more damage than other types. i think because most buds don't fit very well and don't create a good seal, most people turn it up too high. i frequently hear music coming out of buds from a guy 3 ft away, on a subway train! i don't care what type of headphones you are wearing, that's gonna cause some damage.
IIRC, their diagnostic cd uses active x to figure out what drivers and stuff you are missing. i believe their website also does something like that. does this mean they are going to change their tools too?
i can understand a common standard when it comes to things like human rights and environmental. but we have gotten to the point where we make other governments submit to our standards when it comes to IP? that's like me telling my neighbor that he must paint his interior walls the color of my choosing. i say choosing, because i don't like the color, my wife does. i don't need to tell u who the wife is in this analogy

LOL, nice.

i doubt it, since they are changing the logo, not dropping it. just a different sticker. i doubt apple would want to put any intel sticker anyway.
actually, it took ten days to record according to this article:
- makers-pt-1-intel-inside.html

ten days too long if you ask me, but anyway.
that's not quite the "full" line.

mod parent "inciteful". just made me get out of bed to make some buttered toast and fried eggs.
i drink straight from the bottle/can. at least for new year's anyway. maybe they should make taller bottles?

it's good to see i'm not the only one who can't type serve without typing server :)

wow, you really like to take it hook, line, and sinker.
