Saw Quinto in season 2 (3?) of 24 and said, "That guy is the next spock!!!!". .. I have to point this out to people every so often because I failed to bet large wads of cash on it and need to make myself feel better.

That would be pretty cool, to come home and drop my phone into a dock/cradle and then pick up my "laptop" or "pad" form factor thing and have it magically synced (and not just the email/calendar/photos that Android currently syncs via TEH CLOUD, but MP3s and MP4s and current level on Angry Birds too). While we're at it, I've always fancied getting myself a car-kit for my desk at home so I can use a traditional phone shaped handset while the actual phone is in the dock and also to boost my cell signal as my house is surrounded by trees.

Seriously, Multitasking. The Amiga could run two graphical demos at the same time in different windows, while formatting a disc. In 1985.

In 2011 you insert an Optical disc and the entire system locks up for several seconds, and just try playing two video files at once. This is with 1000x the processing power.

I think it's the trend away from giant pc towers and CRT monitors that's making people want to buy laptops. They get the job done, don't have as many wires, take up less space and, frankly, look prettier. What I find really interesting - being a bargain hunter and guerilla recycler - is the massive quantities of no-longer-needed "Computer Desks" that people are now getting rid of - presumably as they now have a laptop which can just sit on the table, and be stuffed in a drawer when not used, rather than taking up an entire corner of a room. Heck I even saw one sat out in the street a few weeks back with a sign on it saying "free".

Your argument seems to be that the musicians would be lost without a "Pro" producer to help them out with "Pro" kit, both of which they have to pay for.

I know how to mix and generally get things to sound right. I'm also a shit musician. I like to press buttons and twiddle knobs just for the fun of it. Therefore I contest that so long as I was in the garden shed with the musicians it would sound plenty good.
