To equate it to a form non-players might understand.
A group of you are playing monopoly. it is still near the start and people are slowly buying properties with the initial funds. Suddenly the owner of the game gives himself the title deeds to the properties on the final row, plus the funds to build hotels on all of them. The effect on the Eve universe was that extreme. Uh...I'm sorry but that is a gross overstatement. It was a fucking sabre BPO FFS not a T2 BS. They sell for like 20 mill. the profit off of that in 6 months is MINISCULE compared to other T2 BPO's BoB already has.
Quit being a fucking tard.
Or perhaps we can look it up in our ass, as that is exactly where you pulled that figure out of.
RTS's are FAR less popular than the FPS genre. Why do you think that there are 10x as many FPS games being released or in development than there are RTS? Because there is a larger market for them. Look at games like CS and CS:S, they each have upwards of 60-70 THOUSAND servers running at any one time, each with 10-20 people on them on average. There are MILLIONS of people playing FPS's at any time of the day and that's just for the multiplayer portion of the game. I highly doubt there are that many people playing RTS's at the same time.
You've obviously never played EVE then. War is war and it's extremely fun. The difference in EVE is that war actually has a purpose, you can gain ground and lose it but it's not for some pre-programmed NPC faction, it's for a player created one. Teamwork is essential to success.
No, the fact that the morons at Blizzard didn't release the server names in advance of launch caused servers to be overcrowded, which in turn led to increased server instability and stupid queues. WoW's launch was a clusterfuck compared to DDO's so far.
Errm...griefers are easy to avoid and/or deal with if you use your brain and the star-map. I've been podkilled a grand total of 4 times in my entire 3-years in this game and I live in low-sec space, which is more dangerous than 0.0.
Uh...no it is not. Would people quit spouting this ill-informed bullshit please. My character hasn't mined in a year and a half and I'm doing just fine thanks.
They stated the explosion would be more energetic than NASA was predicting and it was. They also predicted that there would be an initial flash followed by the main explosion and there was.
And the comet being made up of a fine powder seems like drawing at straws to me. It's a big ball of powder that has crater holes and sharp edges...suuuure.
Except for the proven fact that SPACE ISN'T A FUCKING VACUUM, it's a PLASMA, Plasma's are near-perfect electrical conductors, magnetic fields are a byproduct of electrical fields.
There are so many testable and valid hypothesis for many other explanations that could eliminate the need to invent things like dark matter/dark energy but too many oldschool astronomers have thier heads so far up their asses that we get stuff like: "Comets are mostly ice, no wait their dirty iceballs, er I mean icy dirtballs, erm...I...er...no they're have a powedery surface....no wait they're made of cheetos"
They shot a bunch of the Silent Hill movie in a town about 10 mins from where I live and some in an old armory right in my home town. From what I was able to see, which was very little they did a really good job on the sets. I can't wait to see the first trailers to see how well it actually turned out.
What does that have to do with what I was talking about? I was talking about their having good services in xbox live i.e. voice/vid chat, matchmaking, etc. I wasn't talking about security or hacking the thing.
I have no need to pretend anything. I bought the PS2 when it came out. Damn thing cost me $600+ CDN too. Had to buy a memory card and a game cause the package didn't come with either so I bought their $60 8mb memory card and SSX, the only release game worth even looking at at launch.
That machine lasted about 2 weeks before it died and I got it exchanged...after that I had no problems with the machine. I kept and used it often for 2 years before I got rid of it. I liked many games that came out for the system but couldn't stand the muddy textures and grainy graphics so I got rid of the ps2 and got an xbox, it's quite a bit better in terms of graphics but still very low rez compared to my pc.
So I'm interested in the 360 and I used to own a ps2, just because you may not like it doesn't mean it's BS, those are just things you have to deal with in this grown up world. If the PS3 comes out and it totally kicks the 360's ass, then I'll consider getting one, but from where I'm standing right now the 360 is the better hardware for my purposes.
Former PS2 owner who going to be buying the 360 at launch. The biggest draw for me to the 360 is the online. MS has put together a solid online system that neither Sony or Nintendo can even come close to at this point.
There are many games that I am looking forward to for the system, many of which will use the online connectivity for more than just multiplayer aspects.
Also the media centre extender capabilities are a plus on top of that as well as I'm planning to set up a media server PC to host movies and record shows and crap on and it will be nice to be able stream movies/music/tv shows to the 360 if someone else is using the TV.
I haven't seen any ACTUAL games for the PS3 as of yet so it's kinda hard to judge based on that, but sony's online strategy seems like a mostly tacked on, hack-job kinda thing so I don't have too much confidence in that. And if I take their PSP online support as an indication it will probably be abysmal. On top of that there is the talk that making PS3 games will require $16M investment before you even start to develope a game for it and I have a feeling MS may be getting a pretty decent head start as first to market, especially when the power of the machines will ultimately be pretty close.
Also the rev I am actually interested in, which is something I haven't been able to say about nintendo's product in a long time.

This argument might have merit if Starbucks coffee didn't taste like shit.

There is absolutely nothng hard about WoW. Tedious yes, but not hard. The only thing hard about it was forcing myself to play as long as I did.
The fact that you need to create a new character in the first place is one of the fundamental problems with many MMO's out now.
It's a cover for poorly designed game mechanincs.
Of course WoW is a prime example of Cut-And-Paste developement at it's finest.

Bush gets re-elected

PVP in WoW sucks anyways so it's really a moot point.
So MS is going to allow Xbox360 owners to play Xbox games on the system through ported executables but that is not backwards compatible?
Uh...wtf.
That has to be the most retarded logic I've ever seen in my life.
erm...just what about kameo in your opinion makes it look like crap, besides the fact that it is on a M$ console?
Please do tell.

Okay....then explain to me what is better about Sony or Nintendo's online systems.
But way to go bashing MS just because it's MS rather than actually making a valid point. Linux Zealots FTW.

My mom and dad both play guildwars almost nightly, I don't think they would have a problem with the control scheme of that game.
Likely all the games that go on XB360 Live arcade will have to be adjusted for use with the gamepad.
psst...people who know how to use a computer generally don't need to do that, cause we keep our drivers up to day already.

I think after the trainwreck that was episodes I-III, most people are trying to repress the memory of starwars.
Thanks for ruining 6 months of therapy you insensitive clod!
ummm...you do have the option to work with the classic control panel and you can turn off the autohide on the menu listings as well.
Sorry, but MS never said anything of the sort.
