If they successfully put through this ban, how long until they ban acetaminophen outright? Like another responder said, it won't prevent the mixing of acetaminophen with codeine based medications to get the same effect.

As it is now, acetaminophen is one of the few OTC analgesics that are in the mainstream. You have aspirin, acetaminophen, ibupophin and naproxen. Doctors are shying away from naproxen as there are poswible detrimental side-effects, ibuprophin has had its share of kidney related complications, etc, etc.

Me, I can say there were times that between vicodin and extrastrength tylenol, I probably took as much as 6000mg a day of acetaminophen. I used to take 3 or 4 500mg caplets at a time. Last I checked, I am not dead. I have enough medical issues that I have had a lot of blood work done over the years and never once was there a concern over my liver. Granted, I no longer do that. I choose to live with my pain rather than live under a drug induced mask.

I am not saying there are not risks, but at some point we need to be allowed the opportunity to decide for ourselves. These law, bazns, regulations, etc, often do nothing more than inconvenience the intelligent and/or law abiding citizens of the planet.

Everything out there has the ability to bring harm to us. That is why we develop common sense. Those who don't may find themselves the brunt of a Darwin Award. Take, for example, Dihyderogen Monoxide, it can be very deadly if you do not use common sense when around it. But when use/handled correctly, there is nothing wrong with it.

When I ask people why they have an iPhone vs , the first response I get a majority of the time is "its cool" or "it has a lot of cool features". The common word being cool.

I will admit, freely, that iPhone was, when released, the best at what it offered. It was a whale in a pond. Now it is an old fish in a lake full of younger fish.

I will also admit, I did not jump on the iPhone bandwagon for the same reason I did not jump on the iPOD band wagon, I don't like Macintosh. However, IO do not let that cloud my judgment as to their technical capabilities.

    But I digress.

A large portion of iPOD/iPhone success is marketing. Whether it be traditional advertising or partnering with other companies/vendors to offer exclusive rights or focused "value-add" products that are unique to iPOD/iPhone.

I do not judge the worthiness of a tool by its outward appearance and whether or not it makes me feel all fuzzy inside. Likewise, I do not make my puchases based on how popular something is in a pathetic attempt to be part of the "in crowd". The latter is, IMNSHO, the reason the iPOD/iPhone is as popular as it is.

I was at the poker table last night comparing my G1 with two of the dealers' iPhone. As far as functionality, there is not too much difference. The biggest difference is not getting raped by AT&T for a dedicated data plan just for the iPhone. When I added my sister to the family plan, she wanted an iPhone. I said no, as the existing text/data coverage on the plan did not cover the iPhone, it requirfed its own ancillary addons.

While it is annoying that these flags exist, it is part of the TOS that you have to agree to.

Personally, the TTS feature is not of great value to me. If I'd been concerned with audio books, I would not have purchased a device to read them. Besides, it is clearly stated on the product page that the TTS is experimental and available where allowed by the publisher.

However, I fairly certain that the flag exists in the book itself and not in the Kindle. If a publisher decides to withdraw TTS rights, Amazon only needs to update the book in you server side library and upon next sync, you receive the updated book that blocks TTS. Otherwise, the Kindle's minimal storage would need to be used to maintain a database of disallowed content for the TTS tools. From a developer standpoint, that is poor implementation.

Any large scale functionality changes require a firmware upgrade. Currently my Kindle is unable to receive these as I have a hack to use custom idle screens. I have to remove the hack in order to update.

As long as they tax it like any other business or income then there isn't an issue.

This is already a set precedent as the brothels in Nevada are taxed federally. The girls working there have the federal withholding.

Now just imagine, prostitution and pandering is made legal. There will be a potentially more open plying of the trade. This increases accessibility and potentially utilization, thereby potentially increasing the underlying workforce.

So, if you have legalized prostitution and pandering, some of the existing practitioners will license, thereby submitting to taxation, whereas now there is no taxation. If the workforce increases, it is likely due to demand and thereby drawing in the fence-sitters that had contemplated it, but shied away for legal and/or safety reasons. They too will be taxed.

While it is true that our screwed up tax system often taxes the customers with "luxury tax", this is a service and not a consumable good.

But, all that being said, I do not think it will ever happen and if it does, Uncle Sam and/or the State of transaction will find a way to screw us for screwing.
