1- How about simply cutting his hair yourself? Or just use hair elsewhere, where it couldn't have been hair extensions, like forearm hair, or even penis hair for christ sake.
2- Hair or nail clippings does not requires ANYthing to be preserved to the best of my knoweldge. At least preserved long enough for several years, much more than for a DNA test.
