"and beyond" can safely be stricken from the article. How the European nations hobble their Internet access will likely not change how everyone outside the EU will use and profit from the Internet.

I know that here in the U.S. I won't and don't give even a rat's ass about "obeying" EU laws.

First off, I love the headphone jack and won't buy a phone without one. Just so you know though, for about $10 you can get a bluetooth receiver to use in older cars which has a headphone jack, it's actually nice since you can leave your phone in your pocket and set it to play automatically when you get in the car.

And for even older cars (I'm looking at you my dear old '96 Metro), even Dollar Tree still sells those cassette to earphone jack adapters like Wayne and Garth used in the Mirthmobile to use their Discman without having to replace the car's stereo. Those things work with more than just external CD players, yaknow. :)

You are conflating slavery with kidnapping.

Sure, slavery may involve kidnapping, but that does not make kidnapping synonymous with slavery. They are two separate atrocities, with the latter not being a requirement for the former.

In fact, not too far above the little verse you picked out are explicit instructions on how to take and deal with slaves based on male or female, Jewish or heathen, single or married, etc.

There are no mental gymnastics one can do to justify owning other people, no mental gymnastics that can paint the Abrahamic god as nothing more than a psychotic immoral Bronze Age monster.

Why the fuck could there not have been a simple commandment to the effect of "Don't own people as property! For you yourselves would not wish to be treated as such."

  17. Whatever happened to picturing your audience naked?

Then again; boys in grade school, jr. high, and high school who try that technique would probably end up with an embarrassing in front of the class boner...

And in other cases, they may have such a vivid imagination that the imagery in their brain of some classmates naked could paralyze them even more to the point of them invoking cartoon physics and turning to actual stone... :)

So I guess picturing them naked may not be a good idea in most cases after all. Never mind. :)
