    Well in this case, they should get their deposits back. Those deposits are to cover any repairs that the landlord has to make after the tenant moves out. Since the entire freakin' building is going to be demolished to make way for a new hyperspace bypa...bigass data center, there will be no damage that the landlord will need to repair. Because of that, not returning the deposits is nothing less than theft.

    There are a few homes for sale in the town I am in (Baker City, Oregon). 40K or thereabouts will get you something decent place to live. And there is really no bad part of town here. There were a couple nice houses half way down the block from mine that were for sale until recently. One was around $33K. The other was around $40K.

    The key to finding deals here is to not go through any of the agencies, and look for private sales instead. Now, if you want some acres to go with a house, that is where it gets expensive, due to the prime farming and ranching land all around here.

    Google also can not block stuff from showing up via a DDG search, Yahoo search, or any other search engine that is not Google.

    They don't control Firefox. Also, they don't control search either. DDG is my default, over which Google has no say in what gets shown.

    Myself, I only listen to original Edison Wax Cylinders, as they have the timeless purity of sound coupled with the enigmatic energy of original recording efforts.

    Bah. That is lame compared to the purity of sound in having an actual full symphony orchestra to accompany you everywhere to satisfy one's assorted musical needs.

  21. I print something about once a month. WTF are you people doing that you need to use so much god damn paper all the time? It is long past time you monkeys learned to operate without printing every damn thing.

    I print several shipping labels daily to ship products that my customers have purchased from me on sites like Amazon, Etsy, eBay, and elsewhere. Also, each package includes a printed thank you note that shows the buyer where else I sell. For these tasks, I have a network enabled black and white HP Laserjet that was given to me. It also came with enough toner cartridges to last me a lifetime.

    Just because you have no need to print stuff daily does not mean the rest of the world also has no need.

    It is their choice whether or not to participate. If a programmer does not want to work under this model, he or she is free to develop under a model that suits their preference. No one is holding a gun to any programmer's head and demanding that they must participate in this program.

    You do have the right to say no.

    Your data, even though it is stored electronically, falls under the papers portion of the above line.
