    You don't need Endnote as much as you think.

    In my previous job I migrated both Endnote and Reference Manager users to Zotero (both web and standalone).

      These types of software are "inherited" from authority in academia. Refman, for instance, is pervasive through the medical sector.

    You are fooling yourself. Don't blame Linux for it.

    You don't need open source drivers up front. You just need "the selling software". We have Libre Office, we have the Gimp, we have security. The only thing we don't have is modern games. Enter Steam.

    Also, we have freedom. But the value of it will only become clear to new users after they've begun using it. THEN you'll start seeing a more significant amount of people requesting drivers. The kind of people that whine about it on forums, the kind the manufacturers have to please.

    My eyes still water up at the thought of Trespasser.ItIt was supposed to be a 3D simulation of a natural environment with some Jurassic Park raptors running around.

    Failed horribly,but when it worked it was a great experience.

    Apart from the movement system of course.

    From listening to a lot of podcasts on this discussion,I' have to agree with regards to personal file servers.But in huge environments The Cloud is the administration and maintenance of a number of virtual machines with X-as-a-service functionality,their rapid deployments, backups and billing ++ all taken care of by GNU/Linux architecture and XML reading ools.

    Sort of like a phpmyadmin for a huge number o
    f virtual instances.All automated and abstracted from location and hardware.

    The Cloud is this type of administration.

    If civilization has collapsed, I find it highly unlikely that anyone will be poking around in a vault located hundreds of meters beneath solid rock, with the ramp filled with crushed rocks and concrete.

    The three last games I bought (DVDs) just installed Steam on insertion.. I'm not sure if they're even playable without Steam (Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas and Dirt 3 ).

    Also, I use wine and most tutorials are Steam-centric..

    The problem is that the species distinction doesn't hold over time, and with time being a necessary factor for evolution, the species definition is not necessarily in its best shape within the evolutionary framework.
