I love FreeNX and have used it for a long time, I can't wait to try this...
I also love Python as a language and I used to be an it's C/C++ or Java or it's not worth it.
After falling in love with Python, it is let me see if python can handle this with speed, if not, I'll write a class in C and use python to Access if needed.
I don't really see why they even really need the bash scripts though.
If you use any POSIX system remotely and like GUI's, NX is a must. VNC and Plain X are slow (even with ssh compression)
I bought your book for $0.50 on half.com, The shipping cost 100x more than your book, I think it is pirated though... we will see in about 2 weeks when I get it... By posting this article you got a buyer, just the profits don't go to you.
I think the real reason for lack of sales is someone can go into the bookstore and read your books there.
I run firefox, opera, thunderbird, pidgin, xchat, lots of console windows/tabs, rss readers, remote desktop connections (nx/rdp/vnc), games, gimp, inkscape, openoffice, gedit, and a lot more applications regularly and my laptop is 5 years+ old and does not struggle at all. Yeah, I don't run Windows, but who cares. I do the same on my Windows box, if not more.
When you add me doing something more specific, the numbers increase, but then again, a starter edition of an OS would not be for me, except for maybe the price point.
I got an aspire one from Costco and returned it a month later and got a combo deal walmart was offering for the 160gb and Dual Capacity Battery for $5 more than I paid for the one at costco for an 120gb. I run Ubuntu and nothing else on mine, I just wanted the extra storage (yes I have a 32gb SDHC in it also, and have performed hacks to give it internal bluetooth and gsm modem) but I got rid of mine for the harddisk size and battery capacity and nothing else. I love my netbook.
Great idea, I am going to bring that up if I am ever capped and fined extra. I should not have to pay for downlink because I can be DDOSed out of my funds with an always on network.
Some cell providers give free incoming text messages for this reason.
I am fine if they did implement the dollar an gb extra if they gave me 250GB of download a month for $30 and adjust the dl/mo for my ratio accordingly.
If I had 10mbps DSL, I expect 550GB of bandwidth a month.
Then I am fine paying a dollar for each additional GB.... of course, they will never do such a thing unless the govt kicked in.
Hell, offer the internet for free for 30gb/month and have rates or packages that go up from there.
They should not be fixed rates per gb but packages, you go over, you get the least cost package next. Whether it is a 1gb extra package, 50gb package, there should be a discount for more consumption. But unless they make it fair enough for third parties to provide the network, than they should subsidize the consumer.
Find a child, new person to technology, or old person who does not have experience with technology.
Try to teach them the basics assuming a fixed level of knowledge. Let them know to ask any questions that may be confusing.
Record the conversations, and later IM's if you bring up their tech level enough.
Then you have the material and can arrange it based off of what may need to be added as background knowledge.
Repeat with more people as necessary, or just teach the course at that level, and learn from your class more on what to teach and the level for the next time.
Take lots of notes, as technology always changes and do notice you will have to be adaptive. You may want to offer an advanced after school club for the students that go beyond the knowledge required to help them out.
It may be a good idea to also provide a sample test to assess the general classes knowledge and group students with similar starting points together.
Have each group work on different levels of labs and tests and learning events. You can teach a general overview to everyone and then specialize at different levels to the students in these groups. This way you will ensure you cover the basics with everyone and have general questions that can be shared on tests/quizzes.
If you do not try to accommodate different levels, some students will be bored, become class clowns, challenge the hell out of you, or just do poorly because it is considered mundane to them.
You may be surprised, some students may even surpass your level of knowledge and experience. Do not underestimate them all the students, but also do not overestimate them.
The students that know a lot, can still get proper training or another way to look at things or a new easier/better/worse concept that they did not know before.
Also try to have different learning style trainings so they can choose which method is best for them to learn. (Seeing,Doing, Hearing)(Reading, Watching, Participating, Listening)
Do not try to do each student individually too much and do not try to teach only them all at the same time too much. You probably will not survive.
your right, lol C++

did you extract with permissions? try chmod +x crx
This works perfect on Ubuntu for me after...
I had a seg fault on boot until I installed libopenal-dev as found on their forum.

I also found on some resolutions I would always look up.
Another forum post also fixed that issue.

Everyone having issues look at forums.
Plays great on my Dell Inspiron e1505 and looks great for FOSS/x-platform

Oh and those pesky things called Libraries.

Heck make it reflective red and black around it and call it your hal eye
Simple enough

Is an application an window, and single exe?
Parent process?
How is an application defined?
I am sure we can get around this legally.
This is the best school project I have heard of since I was at university....

This should run on crappy systems and good ones based off the system specs and engine.
"It's not the length, it's not the size, but the fact this has Linux running inside."
"It's no Ferrari but then again, I don't need to compensate for anything."
"I use this tiny screen so I can stair at your [strike]chest[/strike] eyes while I work."
"Real men know how to use any size equipment"
"...but can we please stop enabling these people?"
Nope, if you do they will leave and take your business elsewhere.
If you do not fuel them, they will grow bored and find another job, even a completely different project or job and excel at it.
Same reason a skater will stop doing things if people stop enabling them.
This is just my opinion, but why not encourage them other ways.
Same reason your child will stop making A's in school and join the classes for numbskulls, if you stop praising them.
If you don't enable them, they will find something else and the only people who will suffer is the location that stopped enabling them.
Argue Loudly
I am personally a fan of Python and WX (wxGlade in particular)
But C/C++ and WX and Java are also fine depending on the projects.
Lisp and Perl are among my first loves though.
antibodies ~ antimatter
Get it...
Now we recycle the graves.
We convert the bodies of the corps to pure energy using antibodies.

used to install OS some of the time.

I think shareholders should file a lawsuit against EA for falsification of public announcements.
This is a fairly easy task.

Wow, just like many keynote presentations.
There was very little useful meat to it.
