Andrews also said that this could hurt the integrity of the Speed Camera Program. "It will cause potential problems for the Speed Camera Program in terms of the confidence in it," he said.
This judgement is particularly interesting in that it prohibits material that could produce "demand", i.e. it possibly encourages something that might potentially be Thoughtcrime.
Rich Miner, Google's group manager of mobile platforms, stated that 80% of mobile phones being sold today have cameras on them, yet the number of people who actually know how to use them or get the images off the phones ranges between 10% and 50%, depending on the model. Miner listed several reasons for this state of affairs, including bad UIs and small screens...
How about the fact that cameras are added to phones as an afterthought, and they'll always suck because they cannot have useful lenses.
I don't like the idea of creationism being taught in a science class, but I wouldn't mind them both (and other compelling theories) being presented in an "Origins and Development of Life" class.
Creationism belongs in a Studies in the Techniques of Using Fiction for Coercive Purposes curriculum.
This show of force by the morality police is actually going to help the pornographers make more money. How? Virtually all of the pornographic images posted to the.binaries groups were stolen from pay-to-view pornography sites, thus devaluing the images. Some of those who have had their 'free' source cut off will spend what it takes to continue their viewing habits.
Prohibition didn't work then, and it still doesn't work.
"Primary Function: Armed reconnaissance, airborne surveillance and target acquisition."
Sure there's the benefit of not having a pilot in the danger zone, but that's secondary. The primary function isn't to save lives, it's to do the three things above.
"Wired Science asks: Should scientists date people who believe in God? Apparently, the argument is quite complex. Religion is sort of a flawed mental shortcut for understanding the world, but so is disregarding someone because of their spiritual beliefs. Humans are inundated with religious nonsense from all directions, so it is normative for them to believe it even if they are otherwise highly logical. Smart people can convince themselves of silly things."
Apparently it is possible to subscribe to a "flawed mental shortcut for understanding the world," yet still be a scientist.
If that means he's using an IMAP interface to gmail and Mail.app's damn "I'm not actually going to save your mail, I'm just going to cache what you've recently read" behavior is tripping him up, then I gotta say I have some sympathy with him.
Isn't that the whole point of IMAP; not relying on keeping everything local? Over the course of a day, I check my mail on three different computers. IMAP is the only reason I can do this and have every email (I keep) available on every computer. Why would Mail.app save my mail locally that's already on IMAP servers?
Yes, I can and do occasionally download and archive my IMAP mailboxes, but that's for safe storage reasons and has nothing to do with useability.
If we're lucky.
Now get off my lawn.
I'm sorry Dave. You can't do that.
One button. You have to take your hand off the keyboard. Lame.
Pretty soon the crack of dawn won't be safe.
Without certified birth certificates, I wonder how they determine the legal ages of the "children" in those images?
If "She looked old enough." isn't a valid defense, then "They don't look old enough." cannot be a legally valid position either.
Or perhaps they haven't endured the required sense-of-humor-ectomy yet. (No, it doesn't involve estrogen supplements.)
Please do us all a favor and keep it away from goats. See.
Likely because those people are stealing music via torrents or Usenet and are too lazy to add newly arrived music to iTunes.
You're not only buying the hardware, but the OS and the after-sale service also.

I hear it was more than once.
Only if your time is worth zero dollars.

It's so sad that so many Americans will fall for this trick.
RTFA.
Kinda like the Republicans?
Prohibition didn't work then, and it still doesn't work.
All of which save lives.
The Predator's primary function is to save lives.

Only when you keep it on a flash drive.
