I have a Model 3 - picked it up June 2018. I'm in Canada, only thing wrong with the car is cold battery issue and had some issues with the charging port freezing. Brought it into Telsa, they fixed it in 2 hours. Wife drives almost exactly 100 miles daily, we are saving a LOT in fuel. I believe our electrical bill at the house has gone up by about $100 a month vs the $500+ in fuel we were spending on her previous ride. The car steering is tight, accelerates amazingly, refreshing interior, a pleasure to drive. Definitely worth the minor (very minor) trouble we have experienced with it. Already 18,000 miles on the car, feels the same since day one. Can't say the same about my Chevy Tahoe. 2016, 38,000 miles stupid issues all over the place. Cold battery a big deal? No it does not affect my wifes 100 mile commute. When cold, doesn't accelerate as quickly (still plenty better than most cars) and takes longer to charge. I score the car an easy 9 outta 10. Thinking about a model X now too.

What trouble has everyone else found? (I'm not a web developer, so I'm sure there are features/things Edge doesn't do that make developers upset). Sure, I use Chrome too. Why? I'm not sure why I bounce between both browsers. I guess I like having a safety net in case a browser goes sideways on me. That hasn't happened to me in years however.

You're missing the point, that's not what I'm telling people at all. Lot's of comments on /. to read thru - my brevity seemed to fuel your need to dissect my truncated thoughts and address points I hadn't intended to elaborate on. The stand up desk improved my life as you have claimed yours as well. This article could easily put someone off purchasing one off it completely. For me, back pain is practically gone. When I get home, it's no longer painful to use the treadmill - meaning, better cardio function for me over all. When I sat all day at work, I thought of Newtons Law: objects at rest, remain at rest - that was me! Sitting supported my laziness. Now that I'm on my feet all day, the decision to walk in my place of work to get things done isn't a difficult one. I used to sit and procrastinate on any task that needed me to get my fat, lazy ass out of my chair. That's gone now. Last I checked walking improves cardio function, not sitting. My fit bit records 1800 more steps per day. I can only hope a fellow /. computer nerd/office worker reads my comments and decides to take the plunge and try it. It might make them feel better - and that's what matters the most. You've been doing it for 4 years now. If your boss is buying you the desk (not outta your pocket) and using it makes your life marginally better by merely passively using it - then why not? Varicose veins/heart disease comments in the article FUD (in my opinion) - remember when eating butter was bad for you? now they are saying it's fine? They tell you to eat a healthy diet but people still get cancer? We are all fucked - just do something that makes you feel better in the here and now so quality and enjoyment of life improve. No back pain = getting out and doing more. Life is short. Again, everyone is different & about the only thing doctors can actually universally agree on it that exercise is good. The stand up desk is a catalyst for that (at least for me). I come home at the end of the day and feel significantly less tired. It took me a couple of months to push thru and get used to standing while thinking, was worth it.

  13. Fire department tried to save a few bucks and now wants to blame Verizon for their poor planning. If your going to build a safety network, know what you're building it upon. OT: Call this ignorant, but when the f&^% did you need high bandwidth to fight a fire? If their tools are built upon the requirement of high cellular bandwidth in a low cellular bandwidth world, someone isn't thinking straight and should be fired. As far as Verizon not switching off the restriction, these things happen when humans are involved. 4G airspace is finite - this isn't new. Verizon and other carriers need to put these 'tricks' in place to keep the network running reasonably well for everyone until something better comes along (5G). Remember when we thought 3G was reasonable fast, then it wasn't?? 4G was the answer, now due to explosive use of bandwidth, it too has it's limits. 5G will be that way one day too. More, more, more.

  15. Re:Power and open interface its called ethernet on Kickstarter Bets On 'Wired' Arduino-Compatible IoT Platform · · Score: 2

An ethernet network is generally star-topology - everything has to go back to switch or switches. A CAN bus doesn't need all the connections to come back to a central location on an individual/device basis. This saves on having to install 'home run' wiring back to a central point per device (or group of devices). This could save a lot of ethernet ports too - saving space/power in a central location. If someone created a similar looking device with two ethernet ports per device (to support a non star-topology wiring arrangement), I could see a number of issues including power, number of hops, over all unit cost, software (reboot a device and the whole chain drops - or a device goes 'bad' and the whole chain drops out, etc. Really comes down to enthusiasts who are willing to put the effort in to run cable. There are situations where a mix of wireless and wired nodes would be ideal. Personally, I'd be interested in the device they are creating. Most IOT devices require little bandwidth. If a high bandwidth application is needed, ethernet / wifi / bluetooth = yes.

It's a shame Windows Phone isn't being developed - MS had a number of great features and 'firsts' over iPhone/Android with the Windows Phone series that I enjoyed. 19. Please check my facts, but RIM (BlackBerry) was sued/settled for something like 500 million by NTP in the USA for pretty lame reasons back in RIM's heyday. The legal system set the stage for this, I think RIM might very well be entitled to their claims and lawsuit against Facebook/etc. When RIM was doing great, these nimrods (NTP) came out of the woodwork and cashed in. RIM is doing poorly, it's time for them to make a few 'easy' bucks too it seems. Don't blame the player, blame the game.

We hired a really talented guy in his early 20's a couple months ago. More than satisfied with his work to say the least, and he was pretty good with the customers. I was more than satisfied with his tech capabilities, but didn't always work things out logically I found, missing the target - but he'll learn over time. Sadly, had to let him go this week, he could never arrive on time - and you could never, not once, get a hold of him on his mobile/email/etc during or after hours. I'm not talking 5 minutes late to work, I'm talking hours late to work, 4 out of 5 days a week - every week. WORK ETHIC COUNTS. I have shown up to work on zero hours sleep, hung over, etc - on-time and still effective. Same goes with the rest of the staff. People who know their stuff and are willing to learn will last forever. I have no age biases. I have a guy nearing retirement working for us for the past 8 years, and for the past 3 years I have a 21 year old (started 19 - still in school). Be a productive employee and keep learning & adapting - you'll last forever........ IF your workplace is not comprised of short sighted douche bags (or the environment is 'too' corporate).

From all the comments here, seems like I'm not the only one who feels Discovery will suck. Maybe the execs at CBS/Paramount are trying to attract a different crowd - trying to rope in new viewers that would have not originally viewed the previous television series, and at the same time capture to a limited degree the older/true ST fan base because we have no choice. Nothing has happened in over 10 years so "we'll accept anything". I too feel the same way about Abrams ruining the feel of ST with the movies. Seems like this show is emulating that. The loyal fan base is with TOS, TNG, DS9, some degree with Voyager and maybe Enterprise. I've only read a little about the show and viewed the trailer and I felt really let down as a fan. It's seems to me perhaps it would be a tough thing to resurrect a TNG/DS9 style of show because "it's been done" - but frankly with all the television I've witnessed for the past 15 years, I would welcome having this style brought back - as nothing much has really captured my attention besides, Breaking Bad. Hopefully I'm wrong about the show.

I own a stretched limo, my friends and guests enjoy the wifi - never any overage fees, lot's of bandwidth and about 300 gigabytes worth of data for a max of $450/month. Easy to do, cheap to maintain. I own an airplane too, but haven't found a good/inexpensive/reliable way of getting bandwidth on board yet sadly.
