Why watch it on the Internet? Simple, no commercials. And if they do it right we will get to keep the feed while they are at commercial, just to see what they do....

Is this alot of videos? I mean, is this more or less than the number of video iPods sold. If its alot less than thats no great feat, if its double, well thats not a great feat either. Even if Apple was pocketing the whole $1.99 thats only 1.99 million dollars. That's not news by Apples standards.
Also, anyone know the number of songs sold that week?
Isn't this just an elaborate game of Catch-Up? Meaning, now that there is a way around the firewall, the Chinese Government will just find the loophole and block it? And then there will be another loophole, and the same pattern of catch-up will continue? Also, reporting about this kind of ruins the whole Cloak & Dagger feel.
What they should do is start buying up what ever is the fastest current technology (Fiber?) and start wiring ALL of America over the next 10 years or so. This would employ thousands, and when the install is all said and done they can charge the providers (tax them) and make money off it.
It will be the new Dwight D. Eisenhower National System of Interstate and Defense Highways, which helped to employ millions and helped make the economy boom. It's also taxed (tolls) and maintainence on it gives thousands jobs. It would be, IMHO, the smartest thing the government could do to kick start this economy.
Just think of it as a giant public works project that helps out geeks.
I thought the Refresh Rate (Hertz) didn't apply to LCDs because the pixel on a CRT has to be constantly refreshed, where as with a LCD its only refreshes when it needs to, needs to change that is.
But I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.
I mean, yeah the portibility is not what the customer wanted but the 6.8GHz CPU, cuppled with the 1TB of RAM should easily make up for the limited 2TB of HDD space.
I don't want to sound too much like flamebait but how on earth is this a Laptop? I thought my brothers 17" Notbook was beyond portable, but this thing should come with a gift certificate to a chiropractor.
My cousin is a Pastry Chef. He has to put in 80 hour weeks for no more than $35,000, and that's being generous. And he has the off-set weekend of Sunday and Monday, that's when he gets a 2 day weekend.
As recent as a month ago I would have ageeed with you about Him (J. Thompson) winning, but given his recent antics I think the likes of Hillary Inc. are going to distance themselves like that other group did.
As a gamer and a geek I think I have to ask others what they think, I know far more about this story than my less than geek friends. Not everyone reads Slashdot, so they don't all know about this guy. But the fact that Hillary Inc. is involved will make this much worse for him.
What I meant is that is the RIAA going to come after me if I download and trade audiobooks (via something more common like BitTorrent or some other P2p) or is a new **AA going to spawn?
I don't know how new this is seeing that Apple has been selling all the Harry Potter books in iTunes since the nano launch. I am assuming thier in MP3 format.
On the same topic, who is getting ripped off when I, you, or your neighbor downloads a book from my, yours, your neighbors favorite program (UseNet is mine). I can't imagine its the RIAA, but the readers of the books might actually be on RIAA contracts.
Anyone know who is going to sue me for downloading an Audio Book?
Although my time here on Slashdot has been short, I have learned three truths.
1. People like to post early, too early 2. People don't read the articles 3. There will be dupes
The tile "EU claims internet could fall apart next month" is misleading. Its more like "break apart" or better yet "become divided".
Fall apart sounds too Humpty-Dumptyish. Its more like it will become divided between different countries than break up entierly. The messages in this thread will for the most part be based on the Slashdot blurb on the front page and have nothing to do with the article. With a misleading title, it will only be worse.
Its frickin hilarious. I thought it was real until I got about half-way down the article.
Must wait 1 hour for Slashdot effect to settle down.
Sony: Hey, what do you have there?
Pandora: I'm not sure, it's some kind of box.
Sony: Lets open it!

Your example of a useless entry is Startrek? Obviously you have never seen the article about "Slashdot Subculture"
Didn't we decide last night that the Internet is killing printed Newspapers? Is this an evil ploy to save books?
Down with books! Internets forever!
I said "that week" I meant "that 20 days"
Sorry.

Why not just wait until those Atom Chip Laptops.

I have 5 Mod points that are going to go unused because there is no "Logical" in the pull down list.
Mod parent up +5 Logical.

But he loves it, so the days go by quickly.
Wasn't Velcro developed by NASA?
That sound alone is worth at least 150 Billion Dollars. [/sarcasm]
'Bush is a Dirty Bunny Tickler'
You might want to watch your mouth there, this is post Patriot Act America
You should atleast hire an attorney to represent you, I can think of one that is going to need work soon.

Anyone have a printer friendly version? On second thought.... nevermind. //Tin foil hat on
"Why would they sue [me]"
I forgot to mention, I am a 7 year old girl.

Wanna know what I see? What? You don't want to know? Well tough, I'm saying it anyway!
I see less pirates! Look around you, do you see any pirates? No? Exactly.
You cannot doubt his noodle appendage.

With this simple website you could send out countless text messages to the same phone. BEst of all its free to send, not to recieve.
If we all did it (no, we should not all do this) it would , if I understand the article correctly, crash the system that phone is on.
But I am sure the Slashdot crowd could get more than 165 per second out
Actually, accoding the the Inquirer and Amazon.com its actually going to come out in December. I suck at HTML Link
Thats the game, not the movie. Surprised Slashdot didn't link this, but its understandable since it's vaporware.
