People often don't know what they've been missing out on until you show it to them.

It's nothing new. For instance, face unlock was available on Alienware laptops 7+ years ago and has been common on Samsung devices for a while. The fact that Apple users "discover" that in September 2017 says a lot about this brand and their customer base.

Can you not just let things happen without being an arsehole about it?

No. The proper way to deal with this nonsense is to be passive-aggressive and constantly throw tiny rocks at this Wall of Mediocrity until it crumbles. Not that it needs it; idiotic dogmas built on the shaky foundations of mindless followers (i.e. you) never stay in place for long, they're usually soon replaced by some other flavor of shallowness and hypocrisy.

Google already got caught with their pants on their ankles, positioning themselves as Saviors of the Ostracized IT Minorities, just to get slapped with lawsuits and soon class actions because they pay women less than men. Which paints their whole "let's hire women" thing in various shades of greed.

My current beef with him is that Android is still total crap on the tablets

I have the latest Samsung tab (10 inch) and it's a magnificent device. Snappy, polished, free of bloatware. Menus are friendly and convenient, the browser (not chrome) is fast and has a sensible adblock ecosystem, gps is great, cameras are great. Only thing I don't like is that it doesn't do wireless charging, which is one of those things that once you've tried it you don't want to go back to what you had before.

So yes Android can work on tablets, just not on google ones. Stil I wish there was a more open solution like plain Linux on mobile devices.

  7. people go to brick and mortar stores to browse and see product in person and then go online to buy it from a cheaper source

I don't get it. Spend an hour to go fuck around at Best Buy touching shit covered with the sweat of countless strangers, then head back home to order the same thing online from Amazon (which will probably be a refurb), then wait a couple days, and either be home to receive the package or head to the UPS dump with a delivery notice to get your stuff.

Your time isn't worth much if you do that. But again, some people make their own deodorant and toothpaste to save money so maybe it does happen.

If true, this story would be disappointing, because of the hypocrisy if for no other reason. I've searched for articles or photographic proof of the claim but not found any yet...

None of the two Youtube links offer proof. They both manage to talk about it for 18 minutes, repeating over and over what is basically already in the title of their videos, and one of them is mentioning the other. But no evidence is offered.

Not only that, but in both videos they assume the guy doesn't use Linux at all, based on the alleged fact that he did a presentation using an iPad.

I guess we'll never know if it's true because now the the focus is not on facts anymore, every source will just start quoting each other.

it works if you do CPC only, which not only is costly, but is also a dying vehicle.

    See:

Google’s CPC fell 23% in the quarter, compared with a drop of 7% in the same period a year ago, while TAC increased to 22% of advertising revenue from 21% a year ago, a combination that could be worrisome for Alphabet.

We're in year 3 or 4 of this constant shrinking of CPC, which is not surprising since it doesn't work. And now even Google is struggling to attract business.
