    The check's in the mail, I'll respect you in the morning and we don't make any money on giving you permission to install a copy of an OS we built 8 years ago and really all we're giving you is a number to use that's tied to that particular hardware and you better pray to God (or whatever flying spagetti monster you pray to) that the hardware doesn't take a shit because then you'll lose your OEM licensing rights because it was tied to the old hardware and there's not a damn thing you can do. /deep breath

    I thought the starter edition of Vista was geared towards two primary functions:

    • cheap/easy access for lower powered computers in developing countries
    • curb piracy in developing countries

    At least that's what I recall

    You're right...to establish a PPP connection, that's what was needed from what I recall. If you went through a different way (Compuserve, Delphi, etc..), you could just dial up and the internet connection was handled by the service.

    The rock itself may be 1.3 million years old....but how do they know the Homo who sharpened it was there when it was created? Exactly....they don't. It's not like finding a fossil or something. The base rock may be ancient, but I could go in my back yard and find an old rock and sharpen it this afternoon and it doesn't prove a thing (except maybe I have too much time on my hands).

    3-Phase? To residential areas? You mean to homes? Really?
    Where do you live? I've NEVER seen 3-Phase in a regular home...take a look at the incoming wires to your panel. There are two lugs.

    You have single phase electric, two 110V legs coming in. Commercial operations have 3-Phase, not residential.

    OK, I could have made my first comment easier to understand...I apologize.

    What I mean is, because the loop temp for the ground loop system would stay pretty close to mid 50's in temp...would that not be equivilant to an atmostphere based system where the outside air was in the mid 50's? Assuming each system is spec'd to the appropriate size for the heating and cooling load.

    I'm planning on building a new house and am thinking seriously of a system like this.

    When you say in the last paragraph, capacity is the problem...you're speaking mainly of regular, atmosphere heat pumps, correct? From what I understood about the ground loop systems was that the earth would maintain a constant mid 50's in temp. So it would allow the heapt pump to work as if it was a mid 50's atmosphere based system.

    Am I wrong?

    Actually, it will work just fine...you just can't watch a digital signal without a converter. DVD's, VHS tapes, game consoles will all work just as before. The TV itself is fine...it's just YOU that's shit outta luck.

    Collect some cans along the road and turn them in to buy your converter.

    You do know that a gallon of water...much less viscous than oil, weighs 8 lbs. So I would estimate that 1 lb of oil would be about a pint to a quart. So, yeah, if a diesel van is doing the rounds...and they get maybe 15 mpg to 20 mpg, I doubt they can move the grounds using a pound of oil. Unless the plant is right next door, it's going to take a lot more.
