    Sorry you must be thinking about some other New Zealand, the offerings here are *worse* than in the US. Lower speeds, costlier, low caps. Most of the broadband offerings are ADSL, with 128kbps upstream, the downstream rate is limited by equipment and distance to the exchange, oh and the number of users on the same segment. Some areas have cable offerings, but of course you are paying for it. Have a look at http://www.telecom.co.nz/chm/0,8763,203071-202449, 00.html?link=hpm for a list of pricing for the biggest broadband retailer in New Zealand.

    Umm no, that isn't what you want at all, that would give you a pretty horrible periodic function.

    Try something like this

    I couldn't find details on what kind of lifetime to expect out of the batteries.

    That would be 1 minute before the warranty expires.

    But seriously, I completely agree with the parent. The battery lifetime would have to be the biggest killer in this design. After about 3 or 4 years of charge/discharge cycles on the battery (and we are talking about constant use) the batteries would need to be replaced. And I suspect they are a major cost in these products.

    Yeah I had one power cable, where the pin-to-pin connection must have been bad, because one-time the computer just stop working. Autopsying it showed that one of the pins was almost completely burnt out, or at least looked that way.

    All of that aside, we all need somebody to ridicule as yokels. It makes is feel better. Europe has Austria, Australia has New Zealand, and the US has Kansas. It's the natural order of things, and must not be disturbed.

    Actually I pretty sure that is the other way around, New Zealand has Australia to ridcule. After all as a moderate despot once quipped, New Zealanders who move to Australia increase the IQ of both countries.
