    Noticing how many posts are from people making references to the DMCA, despite this case being about a trademark, shows to me that the 'intellectual property' campaign to confuse people and treat information like property, and to blur the difference between patents, trademarks, and copyrights, is having success and is helping destroy society.

    How did this interview take place? Why did the interviewer not do the world a favor and kill the guys on the spot, or at least identify him to authorities that will shut them down?

    Combatants could use gmail to communicate and organize their attacks. Combatants could use google docs to prepare training and intelligence information. They could use google's tools for a lot of nasty things.

    However, they are amoral tools. Google tries to provide them to everyone.

    Their don't be evil motto applies to how they operate in the market, using vendor lock in, suing competitors, etc. If google provided google earth to the enemies of Pakistan but not pakistan themselves, how would that not be evil?

    "The law is the law" is whats said and used by people unable or unwilling to think for themselves.

    We have juries for a reason. It is not right to convict someone solely on the basis of the existence of an unjust law.

    If you think the laws as they are are just, then that's fine, but say so. Just don't say to convict simply because "it's the law".

    This kind of activity is an abuse of the free stock market system.

    This activity does not generate wealth. It doesn't create something from nothing. And it doesn't add value to society. If they generated 21 billion, then 21 billion was necessarily lost by others.

    People should look down on this kind of business and method of trading.

    not quite. The faster the plates get pushed down, the more power you get while the plate is being pushed, not energy. The potential energy in the car at the top of the house is essentially fixed.

    If the law is not just then the jury should find her not guilty. At least that's the way it's supposed to work. Juries are supposed to decide whether whatever the defendant is being charged with is legitimate, and only then decide if they are guilty or not.

    And of course we can expect this to work flawlessly, and won't make businesses avoid the US, just like other great laws such as SOX.

    How about lowering taxes and making the tax code simpler, so theres not all these loopholes and thus no reason to have the offshort accounts.

    Complicated tax codes create the loopholes that allow this to happen, and this legislation will only make more of them.

    Because the "protections" offered by the US Constitution protect all people within the jurisdiction of the United States, not just US citizens. In fact it doesn't really offer 'protection' to anyone, but explicitly restricts the powers available to the government.

    Ideas are easy to come by, frankly they are pretty much worthless.

    If you want innovation, you have to give them time to somewhat implement their ideas on their own. The implementation will require them to further refine their thoughts and work out some of the kinks, and interesting projects will inspire others to build off it. Furthermore, they have to be able to work on whatever they want, any hoop they have to jump through, anyone who has to decide if its worth other than themselves, while stifle creative spirit.
