  1. Re:Pretty good article on Behind the Scenes of The Simpsons · · Score: 2, Interesting

i agree fox makes a lot of bad decisions, and like I said, its a matter of opinion, I just still dont mind watching simpsons, personally. and also Fox is a conservative station so maybe thier demographic doesnt match with the people who actually watch thier shows? like, even though people regardless of politics like some of thier shows, maybe they feel they dont apply enough to the "conservative population" which is another way of saying the people are making really stupid decisions. at least I think thats a possibility :P

everyone's always insulting the Simpsons these days, but I honestly don't see why they're so bad. Yeah I think they may be not quite as good as some older ones all the time, but they can still be pretty funny. it kinda reminds me of how when something becomes too mainstream people shun it just for the sake of shunning it, even if it's not that bad. Of course it is all opinion, so whatever :P

This information is voluntarily released for up for grabs, if people want to use it for that I dont see a problem.

    >> the DVD is dead. So what is next? how can something in the technology world be dead if there is nothing replacing it? seriously, you can't just declare something "dead" just because, and then ask what should replace it. It makes my head hurt reading that statement. Things die because there is something to replace it, and obviously due to the two sentences above being right next to each other, there isnt anything. sure blu-ray and its competition or whatever will eventually replace dvd, but there are still format wars and no one really knows which will win. the fact one has to ask "whats next?" means that the format isnt really dead. anyway, its not like people go out and buy dvds still or anything, that would be crazy.

  8. images are like ways to include pages in a way on Are Hotlinked Images Now a Liability? · · Score: 1

i know, theres a lot of restrictions on what images can do and not included files, but i mean, images can do a lot of things. not only are there vulnerabilities in actual image files themselves, but its easy to create a php file with the extension ".png" and headers telling the browser it's a png file. then you just make sure you render a png image as the end result when the script is embeded with an image tag, and in between that you can do a lot of things. you can get IP addresses and other information and there are no doubt xss vulnerabilities as well, you're pretty much including a php file as if it was an image. there definatly are limitations, its not like you are just using a ?php in the webpaged linked, but there are plenty of vulnerabilities as well.

  9. paranoia on More Cookie Investigations · · Score: 2, Informative

if you don't want to be tracked, you shouldn't go on the internet or www anyway. in theory people can always "track" you on the world wide web, its not like you dont leave an imprint by a) connecting and b) by accessing a website or server. it's all logged, your IP address, time visited, etc. but the real question is who the heck cares? and cookies? cookies are used to store information, on the USERS computer. sites use cookies for users convenience. they store a value which the site can later access. they have limited potential for danger, and so called "tracking cookies" are redundant, if someone cares enough, they could track you without a cookie. the ONLY real problem I know with cookies is if someone steals them with XSS and then is able to steal a session or something from you. But thats like saying "the only REAL problem with connecting to the internet is that somebody MIGHT ssh to my computer and steal stuff" or "the only REAL problem with going outside is that I might get run over by a bus".

I know its cliche, but its true, there are still people who honestly have no idea where to begin when it comes to computers and are more likely to not even attempt anything that involves them. also, money comes into play, sure, cds and floppies are cheap (assuming they'd support that and not just USB stuff which would definatly never fly) but people arent gonna pay to vote on general priniciple for the most part, and legally they shouldn't have to either.

for Java (which I would recomend) instead of cmdline tools and text editor, get DrJava. Its a very simple IDE, not bloated or anything, just a text editor with some highlighting, a very simple straightforward compilation process (just choose the version of Java you want to compile under and click the button) and best of all, an interaction window which allows you to interact with your program without building a UI first, even its just a commandline one. I still use it, and I've passed the begginer phase of Java (all though I am by no means an expert).

Also, all the TLDs so what if they create more and more tlds, how does it hurt anyone? And also, why is Brazil taking that attitude in the first place, as if they are somehow better? *cough* Rio de Janeiro *cough* Great job making america look like the ones without any values while every other country in the world is somehow so much more "mature." I mean in America we're more scared of corruption of "values" than most countries (GTA:SA, Janet Jackson) so why is Brazil trying to act like they dont have any "distasteful" stuff?
