There needs to be some form of user feedback, clickthroughs do not define good, just popular. People accidently watch all kinds of crap, they also should completely discount any random videos people pick.

There should be some form of rating on the videos as well so the people subjected to them can say if they suck or not, cause most of them suck.

To all the fanboys and haters, regardless of what you think, this is a smart move in the part of nintendo. Sure, they may not be the fastest of the bunch, but regardless, it'll profit. And isnt that the reason any business is around, the good old step #4. It'll cost nothing for nintendo to produce, they'll make profit on the consoles, they'll make more profit off the emulation of all the systems they are gonna cover. This will milk the last 20 years of gaming for all that it's worth.

So kudo's nintendo, while microsoft and sony fight it out and lose money on every console they sell, you will stay in the game, and get an extra life to play the next round with.

I doubt this will be a risk to the space tourism industry either.

As with .net, sure it could be taken seriously, it's just a little bit of syntax difference, but the complexity of coding the equivalent app in c# or c++ is pretty much equal. I think basic should have been left doing basic applications though, because the language just doesn't format all that well, and I really dont like to read it. Other then that, it's a matter of syntax preferences, all managed languages are ~=.

  11. Doesn't every browser store a cache? on Firefox Memory Leak is a Feature · · Score: 1

I was under the impression that all browsers stored a cache, and do they really need to store it in memory, can they not just use a disk cache like every other browser on the market. Also, unless it's caching video's 200megs is a lot of memory for webpages.

lets say each page takes 1 meg up, that's still 10 tabs with 20 levels of history on each. and 1 meg is abhorrable for a html site and it's content, also images throughout the same site are often shared, so they should not need more then one copy in the cache. I would estimate, roughly, that on average a cached html page + images should not take more then 300k, and I consider that to be a generous estimate. Compression could make the html and such even smaller.

Point being, 200 megs in ram for a cache seems like to much, and with efficient caching, 100 cached pages should not take more then 30 megs or so of memory. Which would ideally be put on the disk and not store any duplicates of any information/images etc. (if tab1 and tab2 saw the same page, only keep 1 cached copy). It just seems wierd that they need to cache on a level beyond what the http and html both allow. Can't you just have a single normal cache like everyone else?

Although a good game, I've been playing the pc version for about a month and I have to say they are lazy as hell when they do these ports. The characters and in-game manuals refer to playstation controls, while the config settings for the controls are on a per-action database. So there are definatly times of confusion when playing the game trying to figure out the right keys to press.

The game is fun with an x-arcade though, and it runs at insanely high resolutions and looks great on a pc, high res textures and all.

The kids are just stupid, has anyone ever considered that the game just may actually keep them OFF the streets, at least while they're playing it? It's a tradgedy that this happened, but kids were racing and killing people long before computers existed. So pointing the blame at a game is bullshit.

    1. TV
    2. Movies
    3. Friends
    4. Parents
    5. Maybe they just pressed the gas pedal and liked it

Point being, the game didn't take control of their lil weak minds and force them to do this, actually EA's product recommends against behaviour like this and gives kids a place to race off the streets. This is more a combination of faults, from outside influence and self choice, which led to this event happening. Was NFS a part of this? yes, but only a tiny fraction of the overall problem with the kids today.

It's a shame we never saw aibo marketted in north america, because it could have been one of those high-margin rich kid toys. Compared to the robo-sapiens that are out there, aibo is like a completely different evolution, and the newest versions has some useful features. If they were to actual have them around and market them, they may have been successful. Personally though, my first robot will be a Roomba (tm).
