I have always heard the record labels make Apple pay "royalties" per download not per song. That is the reason they (Apple) don't allow you to have a "library" on their servers and just download anything you have purchased as many times as you want.
Blame the labels not Apple if this is true and I would not doubt it for a second.
"Is it too late to get my old battery back?"
I'm sorta confused. My wife's Inspiron was affected by the recall and I didn't have to send the old battery back.
1st off you don't know the button on the MacBook Pro (I hate that name) doesn't support multi-button functionality. They can tell which side you are clicking on.
Your office doesn't have any windows?? Hell, my BUILDING doesn't have any windows but I still wear Khakis and Polos and Johnston Murphy's to work. IMHO, you still need to dress like a professional even though you may not come into contact with clients. If you spend time under floor tiles or in cable trays then I can understand jeans and tshirts. If you sit behind a monitor all day and work in a corporate environment you need to look the part. Just my $.02.
Am I the only person who absolutely does not care about high def DVDs? Regular DVDs have more than enough quality for me. It's not like I am going to marry and spend the rest of my life with the disc. I just want to watch a movie every know and then. I have ZERO desire or incentive to buy movies on this new medium. I don't need them for storage either. Maybe I am just dumb but I don't understand it.
The main reasons I switched from VHS to DVD were:
1) The ability to jump chapters
2) Never have to rewind
3) Easier to store
Better picture quality just came "free" with all the benefits, IMHO.
Sounds like you need to do what I did. I used to be a Mac guy back in the day (early 90s) but gave them up due to the lack of software (mostly games). I had been thinking more and more about switching back to a Mac lately so I found a 450MHz G3 Blue & White on eBay that already had Tiger installed on it. I paid around $105 with shipping. It had a 25GB HD so I added a 40GB I had lying around. It came to me with 256 MB of RAM so I bumped it up to 640MB with some spare mem I had. Sure it not a PowerMac G5 but for surfing the net, downloading Desperate Housewives, using iTunes, misc crap like that it gets the job done rather nicley. As a matter of fact I'm typing this on it. I've been considering getting a Mac Mini to give me a liitle performance boost. Now I have proven to myself how much I like it so around the Intel switch I'll be picking up a new PowerBook, if I can resist the urge that long. I have to say that I really do enjoy using OS X.
I'm one that won't buy the PS3 because I quit buying Sony stuff years ago. They will not make me buy a memory stick no matter how hard they try. They will not make me install one of their rootkits no matter how hard they try. They will not make me buy movies on UMD no matter how hard they try.
If I see a device with any kind of tie-in with Sony I won't buy the product, end of story. They can choose to force me to do all kinds of things but I always win because I can choose not to take my wallet out. Pretty simple, IMHO.
We just got rid of 4 of the new Unisys Dorados and a couple of Unisys ES7000s. The Dorados were running OS2200 I assume but the ES7000 is loaded with Microsoft stuff. There was Server 2003 on it and a couple of XP instances. At my job I am labeled the Microsoft stooge (just because I don't think that MS and/or Gates is responsible for every bad thing that has ever happened in the history of the world) but I have to admit those ES7000 were total garbage. They replaced some older ClearPaths but everybody yearned for the ClearPaths back. The Dorados were absolute garbage right out of the box. The Unisys field engineers were constantly in to replace boards and stuff. The exec level folks were not happy.
I have several personal friends who work Unisys and I used to sub-contract for them but the paths they take seem to always be wrong. This brings back memories of me providing Exec, MCB, DPS and TIP support for Unisys.
My company's time system and intranet used to only work through IE. That was the only reason I used IE and most people (the ones I know) are the same way, use IE only if you have to. MS can pack as much crap as they want to into Vista and I still won't use it if it is garbage. I just want to use a good browser and I don't care if a guy on the moon writes it. I was a Netscape guy, then switched to IE, then switched back to Nestscape 7, back to IE and then FireFox lured me to her. The only browser I have any allegiance to is Safari and I really don't know why. I have FF on my Macs but I just seem drawn to Safari. FF has spoiled me with keyword searches and the way it displays RSS bookmarks in the dropdowns. If Safari could do those 2 things for me I would eternally grateful.
On a side note, the organization I work for will not let users load FireFox on their PCs. They say Netscape and IE only. That is so stupid IMHO. Luckily I am able to get away with using FireFox (for now) at work by using the excuse that I am a web developer.
"Dell can afford to sell its home computer stuff so cheap because it's making more money on the high-end stuff."
Exactly! I was talking to a co-worker just yesterday about the money our organization spends on servers every year. It seems like every day there are pallets of PowerEdges on the loading dock. It used to be Sun & HP but now Dell is the big dog where I work. There is absolutely no telling how much money they make from just our organization. I would guess that probably 75% of all our PCs come from Dell too. I have no problem with Dell, I just bought an Inspiron 6000 for my wife from them a couple of months ago, but it seems the people in charge here won't even consider it if it doesn't come from Dell (Unix/Linux boxes excluded of course). Some of the exec level people here are starting to catch on because I see more and more RedHat boxes on the floors. What is really sad is I can turn around and walk down the hall about 30 feet and be face to face with 3 or 4 Sun v880s that only cost about $150,000 a piece. Total waste.:-(
Dell could start giving PCs away and stay in business for a long time just by riding their server sales. That is where the margins are.
Just for the record I have at home: a Dell PC, Dell laptop, an old Dell box running Linux, and 2 Macs. Me loves the Apple stuff.

The filler is needed to protect the tiles during ascent and is not needed during re-entry. The filler is used to keep the tiles from bumping into each other on liftoff while airflow during re-entry takes care of it.

The security gestapo here at work don't think anything is secure unless there is no comm and the device is shut down. Yep, that is secure but it sure as hell isn't productive.

WalMart already sells iTunes gift cards (or at least they did) so I don't understand how this is any different.
The only reason I haven't picked up a 360 is I don't have a HDTV.
Everyone step aside and make way for the liberal party that is about to take place.
