What are the differences between Eiffel and other free object oriented programming languages? What does Eiffel have that Ruby, Python, and Java do not?
While I fully agree with your point, I would very much like to know where to find a deck of cards for only "a dollar and change." Even the poor quality store brand cards at my local drug store are two dollars or more. Ace playing cards are $2.49 to $2.99 in my area, even at walmart, kmart, target, etc.
Casinos, if you don't mind holes punched in the cards.
Slashdot posts a story saying somebody made a robot that runs really fast, why the heck doesn't it say how fast the thing runs in the summary? Eh? EH???
If it was a Roland Piquepaille link, I'd say Google ads. But, it was probably just lazyness.
The only thing I dislike more than the term "Web 2.0" are the people who blindly knee-jerk against anything mentioning it. Whether you agree or disagree with the term or how it is used, there are significant trends emerging lately that are worth paying attention to. If you write it off as a reinvention of Usenet, you aren't paying attention. "Social networking" isn't about people talking on the Internet, it's about applications that include information sharing as a tool, not as a goal in itself.
Right, and my point was that this is just a natural evolution of the web. The entire internet is based on information sharing, so how is this revolutionary? Flickr tags?
1. What the hell took so long?
2. When are we going to see the first sensationalist news article about rabid child molesters preying on kids with Nintendos?
The problem with Web 2.0 is that it is nothing more than a marketing term. We've had social networking for decades in the form of Usenet. There hasn't been any major shift in the way we use the internet. At least not one that deserves the 2.0 moniker.
Prayer comes from the heart, and can't be done in a cold and scientific manner in the name of research. Or at least that's what I have come to think very religious people would probably think. This disregards what I consider to be the main way spirituality helps too. It gives people hope and strengthens them. Mind over matter isn't just a useless saying, it's a pretty significant tool in medical recovery as I understand.
So prayer is just a placebo that only works when one is praying for one's self?
As a heart patient myself, it always gave me a mental boost to know that others were taking time to pray for me when I had to go in for surgery. Even though prayer may not directly affect the outcome of a surgery, letting the patient know that there are people who care about them can make a big difference.
I see your point, but obviously the people that pray aren't just saying that they care. They are trying to get god to intervene. (free will...?)
As summed up on BoingBoing.. Maybe they were praying to the wrong god? br.
Exaclty, if only people would watch Southpark. Clearly, mormonism is the correct religion.
Can you stop sucking Rockstar off now? It's a table tennis game. Big deal. Is there going to be an article every time a sports game is made by a developer who doesn't normally make sports games.?
The last thing Sony needs is a new proprietary format (hardware or software). Hard drives can be re-written much quicker than optical media, and no-one wants to buy a device whose media may become obsolete within a few years. If people want a lot of storage capacity they'll get a hard drive based player, if they want quick loading times and durability they will get a flash based player. If they want to buy preloaded physical media, they will buy a format that's been around a while (cds).
How can they even exist without "rogue distributors"? I was under the impression that that was about 90% of their installs... I don't really know anyone that decides to install that on their own >_>
Well you know when you, or somebody else, installs that addictive new flash game? Well one of the 15 yes buttons that you click is your permission to install that spyware and adware.
I know I'm not the only one has has never heard of 180 Solutions. From Wikipedia:
180 Solutions is the company that produces adware applications such as Zango and Seekmo. Formerly, they also produced the 180 Search Assistant (also known as 180sa) and ncase.
Can we put the FCC's FAX number on the junk fax list?
Calling all Slashdotters! Please send the FCC a nice Fuck You! @ 1-866-418-0232

This was the #1 reason for not using Eifell.
That, and it sounds French...

I wouldn't want to deal with the bs that a CEO has to deal with. Meetings, dressing the part, pandering to investors, etc.
...mansions, exotic cars, exotic interns, senators, million dollar severance packages. Yeah they have it rough.
Offtopic, but ProClarity is one of the dumbest company names I've ever heard of. It sounds like an acne treatment.
This sounds like the $3500 USB flash drive. The obsoloscence of technology and the artificial rarity of diamonds. Wow, people are dumb.
They believe the same technique could be used to move nano-devices around."
Would that really be the most efficient way of moving a nano-device? I doubt it. I think we'll see little sperm bots first.
Open Source DRM? Queue the confused dog picture.

Of course the real problem is that God is too busy helping rappers get their bling bling. This is obvious if you've ever watched a music awards show.
This sounds very Japanese. And now we paint a happy little tree over here.

Copyright sucks. That is all.

You must work for EA. I feel sorry for you.
It's just another re-iteration of the fact that we're not looking at what Sony or Microsoft are doing.
I call bullshit. I'm sure that Nintendo is watching Sony and Microsoft extremely closely. To do anything else would be stupid.

Now we have proof that crappy music will remain popular regardless of the method of distribution.
