EFF stands for Electronic Frontier Foundation. Maybe an offshoot of the group could deal with further civil liberties, but by refusing to focus on technological issues they would be overstepping their bounds a bit, in my opinion.
I don't mind so much all the terrible profiles. I don't have any vapid friends. What I mind about Myspace is the fact that it is so broken. The site is always undergoing some sort of technical difficulty or maintenance. It's also the fact that people are allowed to use their own coding and mess with the site. If they implemented a way to embed a song or add a background without fucking with the CSS on the page, and if they could spend a sliver of their millions hiring even one decent programmer to fix their horrible site (and perhaps another guy to design a decent layout), many of their problems would be solved so quickly. You think Fox would have completely redesigned the site the moment they acquired it, but apparently not.
I tried using Ubuntu because I knew it had built-in Wireless drivers. After a bit of work, I got the computer to connect to the network. But being the Linux novice that I am, I still couldn't get an internet connection through the network, which is the reason my network exists in the first place. Much as I'd like to escape, Windows is just too comfortable for me to leave behind.
And what is that truth they will never see? Scientists have values too. The way those embryos are "designed", they are completely inviable. Transplanted into a womb, they would have no chance of survival. Maybe you would like to open your eyes as well?
I looked forward to HDR Oblivion too, but quickly switched back to bloom lighting. Everything is overexposed in HDR, and I welcomed the performance increase from going back to bloom with open arms.
When I create a website, I prefer to do it by hand in notepad or somesuch, because it lets me have more control. I don't want to bother writing extra or unnecessary code for one or two people. I know most of my readers use Firefox or IE. Even Opera will display sloppy code, but Firefox and IE and any other browser worth a damn are built with the average web page (I.E. sloppily coded) in mind.
Why the hell does the OLPC project need an open-source community anyway? These laptops are basically designed so children can surf the web for research and type assignments. I'm sure they'll be grateful to have the computer to start with, rather than complaining about the lack of people coding UB3RL3377 4PPZZ for them.
Okay, so everyone is making a huge deal about Google not handing over personal information to the United States government and then turning around and doing this in China. But did you ever think that part of the reason they're censoring their Chinese results is so that they don't have to hand over the personal information of "enemies of the state"? They're protecting the Chinese people and offering as much of their service as possible. Can anybody explain how they are doing anything wrong here? There are other search engines out there for the Chinese people to use if they need information, but for safe general browsing Google is making itself the obvious choice.
I love Family Guy, but I must agree. Stewie has Bart Simpson syndrome where he's supposed to be funny inherently because he's a rebellious youth with witty quips. Unfortunately he just steals the spotlight from the main character, who we all know is Peter/Homer.
People still use CDs? I've burned one CD-R in the 7 months I've had my iPod, and it was a copy of Hiren's Boot Disk. I doubt it's a big issue, seeing as how the iPod has tens of times the space of a single CD and at least 5 times as much as a DVD.
Hence why they're taking advantage of it. If other industries are destroyed, humans will need to find another, and what better way than to turn a natural disaster into a benefit?
What's revolutionary about Vista? A new look and a pseudoFS layed over NTFS? A new search system? I, for one, don't see any reason to switch, especially since it seems like an addon to XP.

I used to drink Pepsi but buy store brands because it's cheaper! Maybe Pepsi Co. should start being worried!
Um, have you read what was posted on the site after the time ran out?
I don't know why the comment needed replying to, especially multiple weeks after the story's debut.
I didn't think artists made money off of album sales.

Except that most of the time those content "owners" are groups like the RIAA who piss of even the artists who make music for them.

I hope to God there's SOME sort of crackdown on those.

Am I the only one who thought the article would be about addresses where they could have buried all those Atari games?
I use the wheel as a middle button all the time. It makes browsing in Firefox much more productive.

Sounds more like a To-Do list to me.
Why wasn't this moderated funny? At least I've always found Jack Johnson's music career hilarious.
We're talking about a computer that can run Doom 3 on full settings.

... to the building of Arsenal Gear.

I take it you've not heard of The Onion.
